Do you mean the maiden, or the pre-maiden...or possibly the pre-pre-maiden?

I would book a maiden for a ride around the Isle of Wight.

Nah, she only made it to Sandown Bay. Or was that the RTW?

I was going to say that whatever it was, it would be done slowly, as the infographic page stated that her engine generates 6240kW. This figure has now been corrected to 62,400kW, but I still doubt very much if she has only one engine!

I don't mind where it goes because I wouldn't want to do a maiden.

We heard on board Ventura that the likely date is mid to late March for the maiden sailing. A bit early for the med so may be a Canaries cruise?

Mid March for my birthday would be fine ! :D

I've never done a maiden before, so I hope to do the Britannia maiden. Not too fussed where it goes, as the ship will be the main draw for me on that occasion.

We're hoping to be there wherever she goes, but the Western Med would be nice as we've never done that. Fourteen nights taking in the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Sydney and New York would also be good, though unlilkely. Just so long as it's not a fly-cruise we'll be happy.

I would guess the following itinerary
- a naming ceremony
- a TA function
- a TA mini cruise
- a special guest pre-maiden weekend cruise to northern europe
- a maiden cruise to the Med
- some other cruises
- a maiden transatlantic
- a maiden caribbean
- some other cruises
- a maiden panama canal (assuming changes have been completed)
- some other cruises
- a maiden 'coming home cruise
- a maiden Baltics cruise
- announcement of next new ship

We went to the Cruise Show at the London Excel today, and talking to P&O staff, you can book from March

What a marketing coupe if Brittania's maiden cruise was from Liverpool to Hull via Ireland, and the Isle of Man and Scottish ports. They could then run a cheapie for the Yorkshire folk from Hull to Southampton

This would make it extremely attractive to northern cruisers and perhaps show a little commitment to all those loyal P&O customers from the Midlands North.

no doubt Pando will be milking this for all its worth
given that every time the thing moves, it will be a maiden voyage to somewhere, at least for the first few months

might give it a year before looking at cruises, so they can iron all the bugs out

No, No ... not from Liverpool, please.

It would surely be best if she sails from Southampton in the first instance so that those who do cruise on the various Maidens will be able to gaze in admiration at ' ALL ' of the original fixtures and fittings that this new ship will offer.

We shan't be on it so it can sail from wherever it wants. Liverpool would be good if only to stop all the moaning

I hope to be on the maiden cruise.

I can tell you in advance, that I will not moan about Butlins on Sea. I despise that hackneyed phrase, trotted out by people with no imagination, who can't even be bothered to think up new insults.

I will write a report, and I'll be telling it as I see it, and if there's anything I don't like, I will at least think up fresh ways to say it! But I'm hoping that it'll be a positive report

Totally agree Gill
I find that the people who use that phrase, have little else to say and do not have a vocabulary to express their opinion in grown up terms
Also given that the ones who trot it out most, tend to be rather snobbish, I doubt they have ever been to Butlins, so have nothing to compare to in the first instance
A trite , over-used phrase trotted out by those of limited imagination and intellect

Just a small point, but all the Butlins were actually 'on sea' if not 'at sea'.

Sorry you won't be there QBob. Still it's one person less to elbow aside for a sunbed.

As for Butlins. I liked it when I was a kid. Now I'm grown up (allegedly) I like P&O. Make of that what you will.
