Had a Shock Yesterday

#1

Post by david63 »

Yesterday we realised that it is now less than 100 days before we set off for India - in fact this time in 14 weeks we will be somewhere at the mercy of Emirates airways!.

The shock however was that in the middle of yesterday afternoon we had a phone call from the tour operator saying that Emirates had brought the payment date forward for our flights and could they have some money before Wednesday otherwise we run the risk of losing our flights or the price could go up.

Anyway it is all starting to become a reality now we have paid another large chunk of money over.

No - can't do that until September as the visa starts from the date of issue and whilst we will apply for a six month one there is a possibility that we will only get a three month one - such are the vagaries of the Indian visa system.

As you are going next year you may be able to take advantage of the "visa upon arrival" scheme that is supposedly starting in October - but how/will it work is another matter.

Don't pin your hopes on it Wina - I have heard stories where it has taken two or three hours to get a visa upon arrival. Remember it is India and Indian bureaucracy moves at an alarmingly slow pace!
