Mayflower Terminal

#1

Post by Lynda and David »

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a hot drink and food at the new Mayflower Terminal? If we have to sit and wait to board tomorrow it would be nice to be able to have a drink.

Regards

Lynda :)

And a bar.

Considering it's had a multi million pound refurb recently I wasn't overly impressed with it when we were there in May. Certainly nothing to go WOW about. It makes you wonder where all the money was spent, or whose pocket/s it went in!

Perhaps Sepp Blatter had a part in the finances and dishing out the contracts.

It's not really that much different from the days before they provided lunch on embarkation day, when we had to check in then wait to board. Just new chairs and carpet and the desks in the main lounge

At least you no longer have that great long snake of a queue to get processed. Not so bad if you were hale and hearty but it must have been quite a trial for the elderly or anybody who had slight mobility issues. I felt the ability to be able to sit whilst waiting your turn was a big improvement.

It was worse at Christmas with some p***ock prowling up and down the lines dressed as a jester, trying to juggle and be jolly !

The Mayflower is much improved. No queues to check in. Walk in get your card and sit and wait until it is your turn. Coffe and alcohol available. Papers and magazines available. Long gone are the days of queuing before checking in, the queuing again just to get in the waiting area for your turn to be called to board.

That sounds a big improvement to me. Not sure when we'll next use it. Maybe Aurora next June

We embarked QE at Mayflower a few weeks ago and thought it very slick indeed. So much so, we were actually on board by 11.11.30am and by the time we'd had a quick coffee, cabins were ready.

Thank you Sue, at least we can make ourselves comfortable if we have to wait to board

No queues whatsoever last Friday whilst boarding Adonia. We arrived at 13:00 and there were only 7 passengers in the terminal. We went straight to one of the vacant check-in desks and straight on board :)

Give them a chance Mob, they'll still be on their egg and bacon. If they've arrived at the terminal they deserve to have to wait.

Have you arrived at the terminal then Lynda and Melsea?

The last time we were at Mayflower there were no priority check-in desks for Caribbeans and above. Instead you were guided to the front of the general queue. Whilst I am happy to enjoy this benefit it felt a little awkward walking past those who were queuing and not an ideal policy. On the one hand I felt uneasy (I could feel icy glares and daggers in my back!!) and from the point of view of those in the queue I was pushing in ahead of them. Hopefully P&O will reintroduce the priority check-in desks to allay any misunderstandings. It's not just what you do but the perception you create.

Thank you Manoverboard.

We're still at home probably leave about 10.30. Why is it that the night before a cruise you have trouble sleeping? We both kept waking up and now are feeling absolutely shattered.

Hang on a mo ... I keep reading on here about how everybody is going to do their own thing and get to the terminal early, then the OP asks about getting Hot Food and a Drink. Given that they will be getting lunch on board it seemed to me to be a perfectly natural conclusion to assume that they could only possibly be making an enquiry about their breakfast options.

Good grief, OBF, get a grip

Not really. The trick is to stick your nose in the air as you sweep past the common man - stiff upper lip and all that. One does have standards to maintain. ;)
