Petra is one of life's "must dos" - it is an incredible experience.
Tips :
Tips :
- Take a jacket/jumper as it is cool bordering on cold on the way down/up
- Be first off the coach to use the "facilities" at the hotel as there will be a loooooong queue
- Give yourself plenty of time
- Don't use the horses - they do look well treated
- The track to the Treasury is steep - not so bad going down but going back up can take a bit of time

I agree that it is a must-do. Unforgettable sights. It wasn't as tough a walk as we were led to believe.
My Thompson Red Sea review here https://www.cruise-community.me.uk/view ... 134&t=3765 describes our visit.
There are very good toilet facilities at the site. £1 I think but pretty much as good as any public facilities anywhere

Fascinating experience. Be prepared for a long day. Well worth it. We used the horses on the last leg coming up..... Terrifying!!
I recommend hiring a carriage for the return trip. but you have to do this at the top which we didn't realise.. hence the horse ride. J

Thanks everyone - sound advice, I'll put it on the excursions list - and although it's not one that I want to do (it's DH's choice), but I will go and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.
Huge thanks.
