Tapestry and sewing

#1

Post by CruiseLover30UK »

I've recently just taken up tapestry as my mother in law bought me a cushion to do with cats on! I think she was expecting my face to drop but i'm actually really enjoying it and find it quite relaxing!

My own mum has just given me her old sewing machine too so i'm going to have a go on that soon!

Anyone else into tapestry or sewing?

Is that the same as 'cross-stitch'? My mother used to do a lot of that (I have a large box full of ones she did).
A relative who was in the American Navy told me that many of the sailors did cross stitch because it was light, compact and easy to take on board. He showed me the one he was currently working on .. it must have been about 3ft x 2ft of mount Rushmore and various other 'alll American' patriotisms around it.

No Ken - tapestry is done with wool and cross-stitch with cotton/silk thread.

I've found tapestry much easier than cross stitch and yes, it is easy to take away! I'm taking it on our Wales trip next week!
