Lived in a cardboard box. You were lucky. We lived in a hole in the ground dug out every morning by the children before they went to school.

Anyway our kids didn't need holes. As soon as they got home from their day shift at the mill it was time for the night shift down the pit. They got some time off from those jobs at the weekend so that was when they swept chimneys.
