Yes - me.

Not actually booked as such - we transferred our "ordinary" Caribbean in October 2019 to this as it is a far better itinerary and it will fall within out annual travel insurance - probably, due to insurance, the last time we will be "crossing the pond"

David do check that your insurance covers you for 35 nights, a lot of policies limit over 65's to 31 days. Ours did but fortunately we were able to cover the extra 4 days, although it added nearly 40% to our annual fee. UI

I will be over 65 by then, heaven forbid, but our (free) insurance covers us until age 80 up to 60 days per holiday..

Hope we can say “hello” David.

It does - that is one reason why it cost an arm and a leg"

Blimey. 35 nights in a suite? And you're worrying about insurance costs? That's out of our league.

But we did look at that cruise. Looks great but we have other plans.

Mervyn, this cruise is amazingly good value, which is one of the reasons we have booked - as you know we normally cruise Cunard.

We have been to New Orleans before - our very first cruise called there 21 years ago - but there are a few ports we have yet to visit, so that, together with the excellent price swayed us. Had we not been able to book the cabin grade we have booked, we wouldn’t have booked at all.

I know the longer ones are good value Gill. We got a real bargain last year on a Superior Deluxe Cabin for 28 nights. I'm just envious. Not a good quality I know. But we couldn't even think about a suite for that long. We are treating ourselves to 7 nights in a suite on Azura next year almost back to back with a Princess Grills cabin on Queen Victoria. Our first taste of the latter. But that will take us over our normal cruising budget for the year. And we'll be back in steerage on QM2 the year after if all goes to plan. But do enjoy. It looks a great cruise.

Thank you, and I am sure you will enjoy your various trips too, regardless of the grade.

If you look at cost per night then most of Ventura's cruises work out as being good value compared to other ships. For example this cruise in a suite is cheaper (per night) than a Super deluxe on Azura in 2012

We were certainly surprised how reasonable the 7 nighter we've booked in a suite on Azura is. That too is cheaper than a similar cruise in a super deluxe a few years back.

Mind you the biscuits will be rubbish

I did a similar cruise on Oceana in February 2016, and it was a great itinerary.

Oceana was having a lot of work done to it at the time, and it was a bit of a pain, to be honest.

I think it'd have been even better on Ventura

If I’m being honest, we are going without huge expectations - apart from the itinerary - it really is that that has attracted us, and of course the price for 35 nights.

Did you go to Bermuda? We nearly got there last year, but had to cancel the cruise when mum was dying. I believe it’s like Guernsey and a bit hit or miss if docking is possible, I do hope we get there.

We had Port Everglades and Charleston instead of Bermuda and Nassau.

I hope you are able to get into Bermuda, particularly due to the reason you had to cancel.

Back in 2008 we had to cancel a cruise up to Spitsbergen as my mum was very ill, and she died on the day before we would have sailed. Since then, its never seemed the right time to go to Spitsbergen, but we will get there one day

For various reasons that have changed our minds, we have transferred the deposit from this cruise to Queen Elizabeth, Sydney to Hong Kong in 2020, so I’m really sorry, but we won’t be meeting David.
