Programme about Hebridean Cruises

#1

Post by CaroleF »

I've just been reading about a forthcoming programme about Hebridean Princess - the ship the Queen has chartered twice. The programme shows the actor, Richard Wilson, on a cruise around Scotland. It's to be broadcast on 19th October on More 4 at 9pm. Apparently this was specially filmed with the actor and a small film crew aboard. The ship is very small so I wouldn't think there would be enough room for other passengers as well. I have seen their brochures and it does look lovely if you like small ships, but quite expensive although I believe everything is included. Will be worth a look.

Thanks for the heads up Carole. Can't wait to see what's being offered on that ship. Should be interesting.

Found this to be a little disappointing. Not much about the ship, a little more about the Scottish islands and too much about Richard Wilson. From what I saw last night, he didn't have to act much in One foot in the grave. He was a natural!
The cost of a 7 night cruise varied between £4.5k and 10.5 k. Certainly out of my reach.

I was a bit disappointed too, and yes definitely out of my pay grade!

Actually .... we quite enjoyed it and especially so his trip on the ' Royal Scotsman ' train.

RW did drone on a bit certainly but he added a personal touch to the overall ' travelogue '. I thought that he may have done so because of the inclement weather in the region causing a port or two to be missed. Very expensive and intended for the seriously well healed, we saw most of what he saw on our recent Fred cruise of Scotland but Fred rates 3/10 as compared to Hebridean Cruises.

I enjoyed the bit on the train too. I would have liked more about the Hebridean Princess, more of a tour round the ship, especially as RW spent the most time on the ship. I too thought we had too much about him and his thoughts - seemed to me to be justifying the cost of such trip - assuming he paid for it which I doubt. Seemed to go against his stated political leanings. It does look a lovely ship and I'm sure it would be wonderful if you went on with a group of friends. You can see why the Queen liked it.

Yes I think I could become a socialist if it meant I could afford that!
