Re: Oriana
Having been on the notorious ' plague ship ' in December 2012, I will not risk another cruise at this time of the year. Yes, I am old, but unfortunately some of the habits of the elderly like using their walking stick to push lift buttons leaves a lot to be desired. On a recent cruise I had to tell a gentleman to stop doing that particular action.

I know you love to defend good old P&O but I was also on that ' Plague ' ship.
P&O were seriously lacking when it came to controlling that particular outbreak. Word at the time was that many cases went unreported and that there were 431 compo claims.
For me Merv's reference to a relatively small number of folk with NV living in Arcadia Avenue pails into insignificance and maybe unintentionally shows a lack of respect for all those passengers who were part of the avoidable epidemic.

Re: Oriana
Walking sticks are a flamin' nuisance when misused............. like laying them on a table to reserve seats with the ends actually lying on the table. Having had norovirus once I have no intention of having it again and have no compunction in removing said sticks. I'd rather have a row than norovirus!!!colin parry wrote: ↑08 Dec 2017, 15:44Having been on the notorious ' plague ship ' in December 2012, I will not risk another cruise at this time of the year. Good for you Colin because unless people do point this out it will never cease. Unimaginable to think where the ends of those sticks have been.

Re: Oriana
We all moan about the young and their manners, but from what I have seen on-board I think the elderly are often worse.

No lack of respect Moby. If you know how to prevent norovirus spreading short of locking all the passengers in their cabins you should let the World Health Authority and the NHS know. You'll get a Nobel Prize because the best medical researchers in the country haven't cracked it. It is one of the most virulent illnesses in the UK. We have two hospital wards closed here because of it. And guess what. Other cruise lines have outbreaks too.Manoverboard wrote: ↑08 Dec 2017, 16:49I know you love to defend good old P&O but I was also on that ' Plague ' ship.

Re: Oriana
We were at Ryde about 12.45 today and saw the Oriana sailing past heading towards Southampton. In the bright sunshine (yes we do get it occasionally) she looked absolutely beautiful. Bearing in mind that she still had to get to Cowes and then an hour's trip up Southampton Water, I think she won't dock until about 2.30 pm or 3 o'clock. I know she goes to Hamburg tomorrow for the refit so I am not sure if this late arrival today was planned or whether there have been problems, weather presumably or any other problems.
I can't imagine it was planned because anyone on there from Scotland will be very, very late getting home by coach tonight.
Anyone heard anything? Next time we see her, we will be joining her for a 12 night bargain Canaries cruise. Yippee !!
Maureen.

Re: Oriana
They are docking early. Did not call at Lisbon due to bad weather.
All will day on board today and disembark tomorrow as planned.

We had an extra night in Lisbon a few years ago. Couldn't get off the dock because of the wind

Re: Oriana
Lansoprozole solves that problem but failing that ask the Captain to docking at Oporto
