Crete
Hi all
Am looking at our shore excursions for Crete.
The best of Crete is an all day one which includes a meal.
It goes to Knossos and to Aghios Nikolai's where you have an hour's free time then lunch.
I recall reading a report about the Corinth tour that lunch wasn't served until about 3 pm.
Has anybody done the best of Crete tour ?
Lindsey

Re: Crete
We did an Island tour way back in 2007 but we have been to many parts of the Island and it's ' highlights ' more recently.
If you are docked in Heraklion then deffo go on a tour, the Town is a short walk but with the exception of the Cathedral it's a bit of a dump. Chania on the other hand has a little Choo-Choo train and an attractive harbour with plenty of restaurants etc to while away some time.
Knossos is quite interesting and ok for a while but it can drag on for those who are not inspired by Archaeological sites.
Aghios Nikolaos is essentially a tourist resort, pleasant enough but nothing special.

Re: Crete
Lindsey, certainly stick with the PO excursions because the traffic can be a nightmare in Heraklion. We made the mistake of using the HOHO bus in the hope of getting to see Knossos on the cheap but, after spending ages stuck in traffic jams, we didn't dare get off at Knossos because we didn't think we would get back for boarding the ship in time. When we got back to the HOHO terminus nearly all the passengers mobbed the staff demanding their fare back. As MOB said, Heraklion is a bit of a dump.
