Postcards

Although I vowed some time ago that I wouldn’t send postcards home again, I gave up and posted one on Oriana(concierge) from Italy to one of my grandsons on 1st May. It arrived two days ago on 23rd June. The family thought I was away again! I don’t think I will be using the ships ‘service’ again.

We bring postcards back to the UK with us and then post them … most don't notice the UK stamp

I'm not sure that Oriana can be blamed for this Coilin.
More likely the Italian postal service.
All the ship does is post them in the nearest post box.
It's only when you go to some other countries that you realise how brilliant our service is.
I've posted cards in Malta that have arrived the following month.
Empty vessels .. and all that

One other explanation is that they had Italian stamps on them and for some reason the port agent did not collect them so they had to wait until they were next in an Italian port.

The cost of sending postcards on board can be off putting! Just returned from a cruise on Cunard Queen Elizabeth and they charged US$3.50 (around £2.66) per card. Dont think they've arrived yet!

We use an app Touchnote which uses your own photos and produces a real postcard with your message in script posted locally so it arrives quickly.

I was about to recommend TouchNote too - a fantastic little app. Postcards arrive within a couple of days wherever you are in the world and are truly personal.
