Has anybody noticed that the peninsular club benefits have been reduced for some tiers of loyalty

I haven't looked at them in ages since the only thing I have ever really been interested in is the 10% discount while onboard.

What changes have you spotted?

Looks as if the Caribbean tier has lost complimentary half bottle of Champagne (per cabin) on your first formal night and a Senior Officer hosted fine dining event, this now appears to apply only once you reach Baltic level

I have just entered Caribbean Tier The Peninsular Club into google and the half bottle of champagne per cabin is still showing, also the senior officer hosted table for the Caribbean lunch is still there so I think it may have been missed off the new website. So not sure what is happening with the benefits. I know there was some talk about amending the loyalty benefits system so it is possible some changes are underway.

That has always been at Baltic level.

The half bottle of champagne was certainly in existence in March

Both the champers and Senior Officer lunch used to apply as soon as you reached Caribbean level.

Correct John but there are two lunches, on longer cruises one for Caribbean and one for Baltic/Ligurian. However the second one is the one entitled senior officers lunch. On many cruises they run out of officers to host tables as there are so many entitled to attend. I have been on more than one cruise when there has had to be 2 Caribbean lunches and 2 Baltic/Ligurian lunches.

We have done both Caribbean and Baltic lunches and both were titled as Senior Officer hosted.

We couldn't move for champagne on our recent cruise. I lost count but I think it was half a bottle for loyalty, ditto two glasses at sailaway, a bottle for the suite and another bottle as a gift for our wedding anniversary. There was no lunch as it was only 7 nights.

We had champagne but no lunch on our las cruise because it was a seven nights. I think they may have changed the wording of the lunch criteria is it now 8 nights or more ?

Not so, the Caribbean lunch has only ever been ‘officer hosted’ which is usually an entertainment officer or a junior officer of the watch. The Baltic lunch was ‘senior officer hosted’ which might have been the ship’s doctor or security officer. The food was usually better at the posher lunch.

I remember one year when I think it was MPW just starting on Oriana there was hell on about the Ligurian lunch. They had decided that instead of the normal lunch in the dining room that they would instead serve a special lunch in Crichton’s (have I got that right? I mean the piano lounge at the head of the stairs just off the atrium). Anyway, the special lunch turned out to be very posh but very small canapės. Not to the liking of many.
We have only occasionally troubled the scorer in the Ligurian stakes but have enjoyed both lunches. I not the absence of the lunch from the updated cruise website but it is still there on our cruise personaliser. Time will tell if it takes place.

I heard from a friend today that he and his partner have booked to go on Britannia on a Mediterranean cruise in September, so out of curiosity I went to the P&O website to look at the itinerary - he couldn't remember all the ports. Well after a very frustrating 10 mins or so I gave up. I found the cruise but when I tried to access the itinerary all sorts of peculiar things started happening. Then I remembered that there was a reference to the old P&O site on another forum so I managed to find it, accessed the old site and there as clear as anything were the full details of the itinerary. While I was at it I also looked up our Aurora cruise in September and it's so much better, so much more information than the new site. What on earth are P&O doing? It's a mess.

Perhaps someone could send us all the link to the old P and O website.
I have been trying to look up a fly cruise and have given up for now.

The site I used was
http://css.pocruises.com/ I don't think people can book on the site but there's still a lot of good information there.

Looks like you can book via your link Carole. I took a random fly cruise for this August and took it right up to filling in your details.

I've not really had any bother with it. But by the time we book our next cruise they'll have changed it at least twice anyway!

Wonderful!
Thanks Carole, I suspect I'm not the only one to have fallen in love with you over this!

By the way, css stands for 'Cascading Style Sheets' and no, I don't know what that means either.

I'm still not sure what the fuss is about.

I've just followed that link and got the current site in another tab alongside, and, although the look is different, picking a random cruise it has been equally easy and the same number of clicks to get to pricing information for the different cabin grades.

Is this just about familiarity or is there a genuine issue that's passed me by completely?

The new website does seem to give varying output dependant on type of PC you use, whether its Android or Apple, and which browser you are using, so its no wonder there are different opinions, but like you Merv I don't experience many problems either on the laptop or tablet, although I do need to have my tablet vertical to ensure I can see what I am typing.

I find it very difficult to see a list of suitable cruises.
You can’t select individual months, only an inclusive range.
You can’t specify cabin types for the displayed prices.
There is too much white space and very little information on the screen.
You can’t get a summary list of available cruise from your selection filter.

There are also a lot of faulty links.
