What has happened to the beach at Maho St Maarten

I have watched the beach here gradually erode over recent months and is now almost none existent. There are borders banked up and these look pretty ineffective. This island is our favourite place in the world. The main beach in St Maarten looks unaffectived but sadly deserted. How we wish we were there !
