Shareholder benefits
What do you think will happen to the current shareholder benefits (if anything)?
At the minute I am thinking the status quo will be retained. It would be a shame to lose it.

Re: Shareholder benefits
I hope Carnival maintain them at the current level, at least for shareholders who have maintained their shareholding unchanged during the pandemic.

It should be axed for 5 years, if you don't like the idea then sell the shares ... is my assessment

Why, it costs Carnival very little in reality?Manoverboard wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 09:22It should be axed for 5 years, if you don't like the idea then sell the shares ... is my assessment

Why ... because you can afford the loss even if you don't want to.
I hope that Carnival vote to give the value above to their crew members who's livelihoods have been devastated during these incredibly difficult times. To vote against would be read as pure greed.

Re: Shareholder benefits
Since the cost to Carnival is minimal, I doubt that sharing it among all the Hotel staff would amount to anything worthwhile. But it is likely to make recipients more generous with their tips to crew members, than would be the case if it was scrapped.Manoverboard wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 09:39Why ... because you can afford the loss even if you don't want to.

Re: Shareholder benefits
For me there is absolutely no connection between tipping levels and shareholder benefits.towny44 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 10:02Since the cost to Carnival is minimal, I doubt that sharing it among all the Hotel staff would amount to anything worthwhile. Perks are surely based on profits so it looks as though you will be giving them money

Re: Shareholder benefits
It’s the benefits that attract the purchase of shares. No shareholders no new ships.

Therefore you should not receive the benefit during such thin times.

Re: Shareholder benefits
I’m happy with just the extra onboard spend and watching the share price occasionally. If and when Carnaval want to start giving out dividends again then that’s up to them. I certainly won’t turn my nose up at it.

Re: Shareholder benefits
Surely in tough times when profits and therefore dividends are a bit thin, it's even more important to maintain the shareholder benefits to help swell sales.Manoverboard wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 13:34

Re: Shareholder benefits
The driving force for cruise sales during the next few years will be Covid, financial incentives would not figure for the vast majority. In my own experience of share dealing over the past 40 years or more I can recall such perks being removed during tough times so why not Carnival.towny44 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2021, 14:10Surely in tough times when profits and therefore dividends are a bit thin, it's even more important to maintain the shareholder benefits to help swell sales.

Certainly not, no point ... after selling Adonia it was unlikely we would sail with any of the Carnval brands
