Valencia
We are shortly on a cruise which stops at Valencia. {A new one for us}.
Can anyone tell me if the ship docks within walking distance of the town or if you have to take a shuttle bus .Fancy a bit of shopping there and maybe a visit to our favourite store 'El Cortes Ingles'.

Re: Valencia
You will need to take the shuttle, depending on traffic it is a good 20min by coach. However, the good thing is there are 8 El Cortes in Valencia.

Re: Valencia
Check out the market...I thought it was even more interesting than the one at Barcelona, which although being used by locals, was full of tourists.

If you like LLadro, then hop into a taxi and visit the LLadro factory shop. We got a lovely piece, £60, and in the shops it was selling for nearly £500. To this day I cannot see why it is a second, no chips, marks, nothing missing and the colours fine.

Originally it was made from the bones of murdered prisoners - the 'poor slain'.Manoverboard wrote:Was it made in China ?arcadialover wrote:If you like LLadro, then hop into a taxi and visit the LLadro factory shop. Re: Valencia
Anne, having answered your query with a little basic information here is a more detailed review on Valencia.
Valencia
The ship berths a fair way from the city, so you will need the shuttle bus to get you into town. The shuttle drops you off near the Torres de Serranos, you need the shuttle, de[ending on traffic it is a good 20 mins by coach, from ship to city.
What a beautiful city with lots to see. From where the shuttle drops you off it is then short walk down one street to the centre coming out near the Cathedral. Most of the main sites are within 10 – 15 mins of the Cathedral. The side streets are full of small shops selling some nice stuff at reasonable prices.
There are two HOHO buses, Red and Blue routes with the red route going from Placa de la Reina near the Cathedral. For those who like shopping there are 8 Corte Inglas and some great boutiques.
The Oceanographic of the City of Arts and Sciences is the largest aquarium in Europe and contains representatives of the world’s main marine ecosystems. Each building is identified with the following aquatic environments: the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Islands, and the Red Sea, as well as the Dolphinarium with 24 million litres of water and a depth of 10.5 metres. The Underwater Restaurant
Another good site to visit is the food market, fantastic architecture and of course lots of fresh food.
Soak up the sun at one of Valencia's two beaches: the Playa de la Malvarrosa or the neighbouring Playa de las Arenas.

I like the idea of that and it certainly sounds as if you got a real bargainarcadialover wrote:If you like LLadro, then hop into a taxi and visit the LLadro factory shop. Re: Valencia
Arcadialover, do you need to book in advance for a visit to the Lladro factory or can you just turn up.

Re: Valencia
Hi Peter
I also am interested in a visit to LLadro factory and have been doing a bit of research. If you put' LLadro factory in Valencia' into your Google
Search it comes up with several information sites. I was interested to see that the taxi fare from centre of Valencia was 10 euros each way, so much cheaper than going on a ships tour. Factory shop looks good too and very reasonably priced. All seconds of course.
