Re: On board with a scooter
Thanks Arlette. I've just had a knee replacement so am now getting over that and having lots of physio. It may be that I will still take the Luggie with me depending on how much mobility I manage to achieve. It's early days yet - only just over four weeks so a little way to go yet.

Re: On board with a scooter
Hi once more Carole. I have bit the bullet and bought a Luggie. It's great but only problem is we are having problems getting it in and out of car. Usually get one of our family members to put it in the boot, then when we arrive at our destination we stand there with the boot open looking pathetic until someone comes along who looks strong and ask them to help.
Hope your knee is well and truly repaired now. Xx Anne

Hi Anne
Our friend had a hoist fitted into the boot to lift the scooter in and out, it worked really well.

Re: On board with a scooter
Hi Carole,
my advice is get the knee replacement as soon as possible.
I delayed for about two years and looking back, that was a huge mistake.
I had my left knee replaced last June and it has literally changed my life.
I ended up paying privately because the NHS was taking too long. About the price of two cruises.
It's a tough op but worth it. I struggled a bit at first but was back driving and working within about a month.
I'd recovered well enough to go on a 16 nighter on Aurora in November.
I now go to the gym three times a week, have dropped a stone and a bit, and feel better than I have for years.
I've even bought a bike for the both of us.
My motto is be as well as you can for as long as you can.
We are off to Southampton in about an hour, with an overnight hotel and a short five night Azura cruise.
I'll do a brief review on my return (not a brief as Stephen's)

Re: On board with a scooter
Anne, thank you for your good wishes. Yes knee is fine now, due in part I'm sure to the amount of physio I had. I still have arthritis in the ankle on the same leg after breaking it a few years ago but can't do much about that. No pain from the knee whatsoever. We are off on Fred Olsen's Braemar tomorrow but can't take a scooter on board that even if I wanted to. It's a very small ship so going from one end to the other won't be a problem.

Hi Carole, enjoy your cruise. We are going on Ventura next year having an aft cabin on C deck this time. Which suite did you have when we visited your cabin. We will be in C751. Have a great time and try not to overdo it. X
