Game of thrones

Post by Dennis The Menace »

Anyone watching the new series of Game of a Thrones at 2 a.m.?

Supposedly they are showing it at the same time as it launches in the US :(

For the lightweights like me who miss it however, it's also showing tomorrow evening.

I shall be watching it tomorrow night Dennis - I have been catching up with the repeats but am still confused with who most of the characters are

Apparently people are admitting it is one of their guilty pleasures ;)

I attempted to watch the first ever episodes and it seemed to be about dwarves having sex so I gave up with it.

Sky are showing a "catch up" special Jan.

It's also "on demand" if you have access to that Calise - that's the lass who has the dragons with large breasts and blonde hair - Calise I mean, not the dragons!

Quite right too, you already have far too much of "dwarves having sex" in your DVD collection

I watched the first four episodes (I am a big fan of Sean Bean) but, although it's a good political thriller, I found the sex scenes to be pornographic, so I've stopped watching it.

It is quite graphic Alan.

On the positive side I trust that the spurting blood and incest was at an acceptable level ;-)

P.s. I think Sean Bean was only in a few more episodes anyway.

And at least one of spurting blood, sex or incest was involved in his departure if I remember correctly.

They chopped his head off didn't they

I enjoy all the blood and gore and had a chuckle last night in the end of season three finale when the character who cut off Theon Greyjoy's "appendage" was seen eating a very large sausage in front of him. Then to make matters worse the said "appendage" was sent to his father in a fancy box and all the father could say was that his son wouldn't be carrying on the family name so he wasn't paying any ransom for him

Looking forward to seeing what tonight's episode has in store ;)

P.s. Re Sean bean, I was being careful in case anyone was working their way through the Box Set (apparently it's the new big thing to do) but, no, it didn't end well for him. :shh:

I did read the other day that his clogs were popped for him!

the books are far better than the adaptation, there is far too much missed out and the TV programmes have been sexed up to appeal to cyber geeks and fanboys , who sit alone in their bedrooms watching it on a computers :sarcasm:

As you know so much about the series I guess you must be watching it too Batty :lolno:

I've thought about reading the books - I read The Lord of the Rings trilogy after watching the films and found Tolkein very difficult - had to keep referring to the character and place name list - it was so complex. Are the Game of Thrones etc. books like that?

oh my goodness, yes jan the books are very complex, but as dk says they are a lot more involved than the series. I finally reached the end one about six months ago, then learnt the man is busy writing the next two as we speak. by the time they come out I shall have to re read the last one again to remember all the characters again.

ps I haven't bothered watching the programmes, but my son is, and I have to keep mum on the plots, so as not to give the game away, when he passes a good bit, we can then talk about it.
regards gilly.

I must admit watching it with my son makes me feel uncomfortable . But it never fails to surprise and don't read the book before you watch it .
Sean Bean doesn't last long .Have I spoilt it for you ?

Big fan of Sean Bean myself .Great in Sharpe

Try Breaking Bad . Get through the first episode with a man in underpants and a gun.

Fantastic series ... also fascinating listening to George R R Martin being interviewed about it. The series has now gone beyond the books ... I wonder if George RR will catchup and release a couple more books.

If you can get a tour of the set it is well worth taing.
