I Owe It All To You

#1

Post by david63 »

Just been listening to Dame Shirl's (as she is know to her mates!) latest, and last, album and have to say that at 83 she can still belt out a good tune.

Many memories of that special night that some of us were lucky enough to have - and also memories of absent friends.

The big memory I have of that evening was Billy doing his interpretive dance of Dame Shirley, my sides were agony with laughing so much, especially since Billy hadn't noticed that Dame Shirl was looking on.

I finally got to visit Malta last year, have always wanted to since a child, but I remember Billy telling me how much he loved it and he wanted to retire there - I now know why. I still miss his emails.

We two ( me 'n' Shirl ) were right up close for a short time, on stage, in the lights, with the music blaring ... twas the nearest I ever got to being a celeb

Cruised many times on Adonia and we still both look back on the 2011 Naming Do with great fondness ...

Shirl .....

A truly memorable day/evening with the two P&O representatives treating us all like VIP’s.

Shame about the table of champagne flutes that got smashed

A true diamond was our Shirl.

P.s...I didn't see any of you at Shirl's after events suite party :)

I had totally forgotten about that ... not the first time I had seen it and it certainly wasn't the last

That's only part of it ... I, as in OL, will be the super hero and get the drinks in ( albeit at the free bar ) ;)

Did he happen to mention that he got his own but forgot to order a drink for me plus Mobietta and his own wife

It doesn't surprise me. Probably pi**ed and making a show of himself. Even when they're free he's worried about getting a bill. :D

For those of you who were not privileged to have enjoyed my company and generosity. The other version goes something like this…. when I went round the table “of about twenty VIP guests” asking what drinks I could get them there was no intention by P&O to provide a free bar (as the bill I received the following morning bares testament to this fact)…it was only after some confusion with billing that P&O declared that all drinks would be credited to them.

As for not getting Mob and Mobietta a drink I had to remind him that we were in a cabaret venue and his request for afternoon tea and canopies wouldn’t be available  :) … as for my wife?... she gets rather silly when she’s had a drink or two... as Mob well knows :silent:
