Drinks package
HI, we are sailing on Oceana next year - very excited ! I have hunted high and low to find out how much the drinks packages are - found mine - Costa Coffee!!! My husband is a beer/cider drinker - any advice would be greatly received.

Re: Drinks package
The only drinks package for your husband is called " the bar " .
Empty vessels .. and all that

Welcome to the forum, oceanvillage2.
Barney's response may have seemed a little flippant but, nevertheless, is probably true. Drinks packages usually cover coffee, soft drinks or wine but us poor beer drinkers just have to "pay-as-you-drink". Never mind, I'm sure your husband will cope!

On the plus side P&O drink prices are significantly less than most other lines

Don't even think about a Celebrity cruise unless a drinks package is included or you just won the lottery jackpot.

Re: Drinks package
I have seen that some lines charge a gratuity of £8 to £10 + pp per day, (higher in posher cabins) and then put a 20% gratuity on the drinks from the bar. Another £160 on an £800 tab.
Don't worry, be happy

Re: Drinks package
I've never sailed with Cunard, but a friend of mine did last year and was horrified at his final bill.
He said drink prices were extortionate, but still partook as he was on holiday.
He is used to getting 10% off at the end but had 15% added to everything. So, he said it was expensive + 15%
I can't totally remember but I think he said that house wine with dinner was about $30 a bottle + 15%
We have everything we want when on holiday but don't really go mad.
I've always been quite pleasantly surprised at the end.
Like everyone, I chuck the receipts into a draw and if you take a peak halfway through it seems an awful lot of paper, but if you add them up, it's quite reasonable.
From memory, last year, I think it was under £4 for a pint.
I vaguely remember trying a few of those craft ciders. One I took a fancy to was a cloudy one, and very tasty.
It turned out it was about 8% alcohol level.
That was the night I dozed off in the theatre
