There were plenty of signs about the "step over test" both on the ship and in the Horizon the other week on Adonia but nothing came of it - even though we had a tender port (Guernsey - that we did get into)
The "Step-over test" was alive and kicking on Adonia last week - or at least the rubber mat with two white lines painted on it !! Everyone who managed to "pass" in Andersons received huge cheers and rapturous applause. Not sure how useful it was, though, because in Portree we saw a lady disembarking who could not even stand unaided let alone step from a moving tender onto a moving pontoon on shore !!

One of the many who DON'T attend the requested, 'for those with limited mobility', step test beforehand. Make it compulsory as, in our experience, those that DO attend are the ones that don't have too much of a problem.

On Oceana in April we had to do the 'step over' test before we were issued with a tender ticket. It meant that just one person couldn't queue up to get a ticket for others in their group as everyone had to be seen to be able to do the step. That had the effect of making it compulsory if you wanted to get on the tender.

I cannot see the point of making it compulsory, my wife could not do the step-over test, so when its a tender port, and we know there is no roll on/off facility, we stay on board.

But you're the sensible ones Towny. Others do risk themselves and others when they shouldn't. It only needs to be compulsory for people who want to go ashore by tender. Not for those like yourselves who don't.
