It's very much like the Welcome bash Tinks, but usually not as crowded and you do get an entry into a prize draw - usually for a Waterford Crystal piece (very attractive but completely useless)!
The prize is now a leather photo album, now doubt so you can fill it with the overpriced on board photos. There was also a 2nd prize of a bottle of bubbly.
If I win I hope I get second prize.

Ok not so bothered about the raffle - are the 'cocktail' drinks any good or your usual P and O watered down versions?

The drinks are slightly stronger, if you can find a waiter to serve you. Once The Boss starts speaking you've no chance.

I always try to spot one with a full tray. They are always glad to relieve some of the weight, but sometimes you can find yourself in an arid corner.

Just the usual drinks, Tink, so "Cocktail Party" is a bit of a misnomer !

Received a response from P&O at last:

"You will check in at our priority check in desk at the terminal, the times you are given are just a guide line. Embakation (sic) starts at 12pm you will be able to check in then."

Exactly what you have all told me to expect, which does make rather a mockery of the stated embarkation times. Shame P&O head office can't spell "embarkation", though !!

Simply reinforces what I've always said QB

P&O don't care when you turn up but if you go during peak period, expect a bit of a wait.
I can't see why it's been an issue for the Dark Knight except for mischief

A few years ago, I actually ask a P&O employee why the different times and they said that IF folk stuck to that time, it MAY make things a bit smoother but they really don't care either way.

So, that's been my take on it since.
I don't feel that I'm nicking 'someone else's slot'

We're on the tugboat Adonia next and I've never seen a queue for check-in for her anyway so that's even less of a problem

Good luck wth that. Being a smaller ship only half the x-ray machines were open and our queue was about 45 minutes.

I've never tried to smuggle anything on board so I've been OK in the past - anyways, we're "Priority" and I have an e-mail to prove it!

Different coloured straw hats are the answer :sarcasm:

Allocated on arrival

They can then be worn at all Bingo sessions and Sail Away parties

Highest tier will say 'I'm a Ten Bob Millionaire'

Lowest tier will say 'Wannbee'
