Own brand gin and ice cream is OK but hardly worth the fanfare to celebrate 180 years !

I would have thought the Marketing people could have come up with something a little more exciting. The only thing I like about that lot is the Jude's Ice Cream. We do like that and have been buying it for a while. But, a huge corporation like P&O, is the most exciting thing they could come up with a Spa for Teenagers! What is this latest craze for gin - it seems to be springing up everywhere. We stayed at a hotel near Bath a couple of weeks ago and their bar had 180 different gins on offer. The choice was bewildering and not exactly cheap, I was hesitant about choosing one and then not liking it so I had a Bellini! I don't like Blue Sapphire which I know many people do so I'll stick to Gordons!

Apparently it's all about gin with herbs and seaweed now. Don't worry, it's passed me by too, Carole !

My favourite is Beefeaters. We are on a gin tasting g excursion in St Petersburg Port. P and O have a theme running here.

We've done a few wine tasting and Martini tasting courses on the ships and really enjoyed them. They have been great value too - get educated and completely pickled for a tenner !! I daresay they already have gin tasting going on but we have not come across one yet. Sadly, I don't expect there will be any tasting sessions on Adonia this summer - we have asked before and the stock answer is there has never been enough support

We had a guided tour around The One Distillery at Armathwaite in Cumbria. As one who knows little about gin (to that point my knowledge only extended to how to drink it) I was amazed that they kept theirs in the freezer, poured one out and then just put a small amount of Fevertree tonic water in it. It tasted totally different and was very enjoyable. In future I'm not drowning my gin in tonic any more.
As for P&O is this surely the best the market men can come up with for such a celebration?
