Summer 2019

Well today's the day (well actually it is not!!)

The Summer 2019 cruises are available for re-registration - that is unless you want to go on Adonia, Aurora, Oriana or Ventura as there is nothing showing for any of those ships.

Now I know that there is a possibility of loosing a ship or two - but FOUR

I just logged onto the P&O site to look at holidays for August 2019 when its my big birthday. We're looking at Adult only ships because of the school holidays and only one holiday comes up and that's on Arcadia. Is something happening to Oriana and Adonia? We will happily holiday on Arcadia but would have liked a bit more choice.

Holidays are now showing on Aurora and Ventura both ships we like just not in the school holidays.

They are up and starting prices are shown on the P&O site, have not looked specifically for the adult only ships, but one or two are showing, but have only looked at the summer school holiday period.
One thing I have noticed is that all 14 night Med cruises now only have 6 POC, as against the normal 7, and no I cannot find any overnights to account for this, however starting prices are a bit cheaper than 2018; but the cruises I have checked are all a bit samey, so if you are looking for new POC's you might be disappointed.

Everything now appears to be there except Adonia. I hope this means they're adding them ship by ship and not that they've taken her away again!

They all seem to be there now apart from Adonia. I suppose it is the usual P&O IT not getting their act together (yet again)

Nothing that is really jumping out at me saying "Book me, book me"!!

Nor us until Adonia appears - which is our preferred ship for 2019.

If she doesn't appear we'll have to reconsider but it may be elsewhere

The P&O brochure has just dropped through our letterbox and Adonia doesn't appear beyond March!

Our agent has no information either - they're contacting P&O but it looks like they've done it again!

I'm looking for Adonia cruises too.

I was just going to post that my brochure had landed when Mervyn & Trish beat me to it.

I then went on FB and saw this comment from P&O: "we are finalising Adonia's whole programme for next year and an update will be provided over the coming weeks." davids63 also beat me to it but I'm going to post it anyway!! P&O spent weeks producing their brochure and surely could have foreseen the Adonia queries it would receive?

It looks like Adonia's itineraries have been delayed, I suspect because she was late back into the fleet.

However, that is exactly what they said when she was being sent to Fathom!

Just posted this in reply on the P&O FB site

"Are you sure? That is exactly what you said in a previous year and then announced she was going to Fathom. Can you say categorically she is remaining in the P&O fleet and not disappearing again? With cruises on sale now I want to make my plans for 2019. We had intended to book on Adonia and don't want to wait again only to find she is no longer a P&O ship and that other prices have gone up in the meantime. So please a straightforward "yes" or "no" answer. Will Adonia be sailing in Summer 2019 as a P&O Cruises UK ship? Anything other than a simple "yes" I think we can all take as a "no"!"

Await response with interest.

Before the new cruises were released, I was thinking about either Azura or Ventura as we haven't been on either for some time, and I was also interested in having some Greek ports.

The only one that fits the bill is Azura on 2/9/19, which includes Mykonos, Athens, Santorini and Katakolon.

Currently thinking about that one.

Received the updated brochure supplement this morning and to be honest there wasn't a lot there to get excited about. We did however make enquiries with our travel agent about one cruise and got prices.

5% discount which as Peninsular club members you get anyway regardless when you book, not particularly the launch bargain prices I was expecting and the on-board credit was dire for a two week cruise. And as our travel agent said prices are fluid and can go up as well as down anytime between now and sailing date. So unless it's a special occasion or a must have cruise where you want to get it done and dusted cabin choice wise I personally cannot see what all the hype is about.

Only if it is a Peninsular Club (Portunus Club died years ago!) cruise - there is a 5% discount if you book any cruise before the 30th November

On Adonia at present and just spoken to someone who was told not to bother booking Adonia after next spring. Apparently there will be an announcement later.

Just spoken to reservations on the phone and "the company have given us no information".

If the news was reassuring I'm sure they would have been told so I assume Adonia is for the chop. Which is weird since her size is unique in the fleet. If they have an over capacity issue I would have thought they would have dumped Oriana which, while still popular, limps from port to port these days with expensive maintenance issues!

However, onwards and upwards. We've spotted a 7 nighter on Azura, which we haven't been on for a while, which goes to two ports we've never been to and covers our wedding anniversary. So we've pre-registered for a midships suite at a price which will leave us change for a balcony on Adonia later in the year if a miracle happens.
