She has but I think you'll find a dirty great dent in your cabin. She didn't hang about with that champagne bottle.

I enjoyed all of it, Rob is dry, Red Hot Chilli Pipers are my new guilty pleasure and Natalie and Ian are brilliant. Paul Brown looked very proud, all in all a very good show by P&O.GillD46 wrote:I liked Bob Brydon and thought he was rather funny.

Did anyone else hold their breath when Paul Brown was escorting HM the Queen - his hand was hovering at her back and when she was going up and down the stairs I thought oh no he's going to help her and one does not touch Her Majesty
I love Rob Brydon - perhaps it's a Welsh thing - he was probably censored and couldn't be himself anyway

I thought he did very well. He was obviously aware of etiquette but there was a helping hand there just in case.

It must have been very poignant for HM naming this ship after she had to give up her beloved Britannia.
Not everyone appreciates the humour of Rob Brydon if you have never seen him before, it's an acquired taste, which I love.
If he's good enough for P&O to be confident using him in their ads, then my only criticism was his reliance on cue cards, but who can blame him at such an event.

I'm sure that was exactly the case Foxy.oldbluefox wrote:I thought he did very well. He was obviously aware of etiquette but there was a helping hand there just in case.
I first met Paul Brown over 20 years ago ( long before he was a Captain ) on the old Sea Princess when we had the pleasure of him dining with us every evening and a nicer more genuine person you couldn't wish to meet
I'm sure HRH was equally as comfortable and charmed with him as he would have been with her after all he's a Yorkshire lad by birth they breed em tough in 'gods own county'

Yes I thought that too Jan. I could almost hear the clang of the tower keys

I though Rob was okay too in what is very difficult circumstances - not an obvious stand up comedy venue! It felt a bit flat because the video production team clearly hadn't rigged what they call an FX mike, so we couldn't hear much in the way of audience reaction.Jan Rosser wrote:Did anyone else hold their breath when Paul Brown was escorting HM the Queen - his hand was hovering at her back and when she was going up and down the stairs I thought oh no he's going to help her and one does not touch Her Majesty

As for HM, yes we thought how odd this is. With any other elderly lady getting out of a car or climbing or descending steps the natural courteous thing to do would be offer an arm or steadying hand. But Royal protocol says no. Still she survived and the only thing broken was the bottle!

I will definitely say she has some great attractions onboard and a very smart interior. While we are not P&O fans, never say never.

Like Jo, we have known Paul for many years. He is one of the nicest genuine people anyone could hope to meet. My Husband commented when the Queen was walking down the steps that Paul was watching over her 'like a piece of glass'. Thankfully he didn't have to help, but I am sure protocol would have gone out of the window, as with anyone with a heart, he would have helped if necessary.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
