This is a outside single on deck 6 and the noisiest cabin i have experienced on a P&O ship. There was constant creaking from the wall/ceiling and ocassionally banging so loud you though someone was trying to get in the cabin. These retrofit cabins need 'fettling'. A team need to spend time when the ship is at sea identifying the sources of the noise and eliminating them. This would require partial dismantling and can only be done when the ship is underway.

i will not be booking a single cabin on Ventura again and can't recommend them. for a few pounds more you can have a nice cosy, quite inside on a higher deck.

How much more do you have to pay for a regular room?

Ventura did creak and groan a lot last time we were on her, mainly around the forward elevators and stairs areas. The Captain said all ships do it, but I wonder if this is a result of Ventura having the upper deck split a few years ago?

Well not unless they've all had split decks!

Generally it's because the cabins are built as modules inserted into the steel structure. There has to be some latitude or the cabins would be damaged by the natural flexing of the ship. Remember how aircraft wings flex in turbulence? Alarming but if they didn't do it they'd snap off.

Ships are the same.

The creaking is the result of that small degree of movement between the cabins, and indeed other fixtures and fittings, and the hull.

Noisy and irritating sometimes. But nothing to cause alarm.

Our recent cruise on Azura in exactly the same cabin area was creak free, even though we did have one fairly rough night and day; even Eclipse groans more than Azura, so should I worry that our cabin might snap off on our next Azura cruise?

Lol. Possibly not. Movement is possible without creaks, but not guaranteed! Maybe Azura is better oiled!

D715 on Azura did, albeit in 2010 ... a call to P&O or an e-mail to Ventura's Admin are good options.

D 735 had a sofa bed on Azura.

According to the deck plans D725 has an * against it, which the key advises "has an one additional bed in the form of a single sofa bed", the answers can all be found in the brochure.

Comments: This is an aft suite. The only reason for the four star on the furnishings is that they are looking a bit tired, but she is due for a refit so I expect that they will be freshened up.

One important note is that this suite would be totally inaccessible for anyone in a wheelchair/mobility scooter due to the fact that it has an "outside" door, which is at 90 degrees, before you reach the actual suite door.

Quite right about the accessability issue with C749 David. We were in there last January when my knee was at its worst before my knee replacement in February so I was using a scooter. It took great skill (!) to enter the cabin without running over John's foot as he was holding the door open. It certainly is a 90 degree angle to turn from the corridor into the cabin - great fun! My scooter was only a small Luggie, a larger scooter just wouldn't be able to get in there.

Have just booked N909 to the Canaries in April/May next year. Our son and his wife are coming with us for their first cruise. They have booked an aft cabin, B756. Wondered if anyone has experience of this or one nearby.
