Agreed. I always thought the atrium was a non event.

I notice in the same newsletter that Fathom is now a handful of excursions rather than a separate brand. That went well didn't it!
I just cannot fathom that Merv. ;)

I have never understood this need for an atrium. I actually liked the Reception area on Arcadia, in fact we liked Arcadia full stop.

It's always been my favourite ship.
In fact we were due to travel on her at the end of this month but the cruise was withdrawn fairly early on to enable her to go in for the refit.
Am now looking at how I can squeeze in in to see her after the refit.

Has always been our favourite, Lindsey, apart from The Cough from which you are suffering. Maybe they will find a solution to that during the refit

I seem to remember when Arcadia first sailed there was some sort of curtain hanging in the Atrium which got a lot of criticism and eventually disappeared. I don't know what it is about Arcadia but we've never taken to it - I've been on her twice - but maybe we need to give her another go.

I must say the first time we went on Arcadia I wasn't too keen on its contemporary design but over the years I have come to like it more and more especially its Crow's Nest, dedicated cinema, theatre and proper promenade deck. Having tried most of the others it's one of my favourite ships (maybe by default as we weren't keen on the new breed of ships).

I've always liked Arcadia, and she's one of my favourite ships. I'm sure she had a refit not so long ago, when they refurbished the Crows Nest. They seem to be investing in her heavily, as she's having another one now

Yes, we remember that well, on entering the Atrium for the first time, my wife commented, "looks like they have still got the builders onboard"

With just 23 days to my Caribbean Cruise on Arcadia, I only received a general email a couple of days ago from P&O that Arcadia is going for a mini refit in Hamburg at the end of October 2017. The email says Arcadia will be back for Christmas. For my cruise to sail on time, Arcadia needs to go to Hamburg, have the refit and be back in Southampton by 21st November. I hope P&O have got their schedules correct.

Great email re the refresh for Arcadia however the following paragraph is concerning for pax booked from the 15th November, I assume she’ll be ready in time for then as you mention Christmas and there are three cruises scheduled for November departure

P&O Cruises Hi Michelle, we are sorry for any confusion this may have caused. We do not have any plans at present to cancel these cruises. We have passed this on to our Marketing team so that they can review and amend.

Apparently, those of you booked on Arcadia are going to get the "wow factor" !!

“Those travelling on Arcadia and Oceana can look forward to new design concepts and improvements to comfort while still enjoying the incomparable service that characterises a P&O Cruises holiday.”

Arcadia is currently undergoing a two-week refurbishment in Hamburg and is due to return to service on November 15th with a three-night cruise from Southampton to Belgium.

The ship’s refit has being carried out in partnership with interior design specialist, RPW Design, and will include refurbishment of its cabins, suites, public areas, bars and restaurants.

P&O has promised a new “wow factor” for the ship’s atrium and reception including a new nautical-themed wall, along with the suites being “refreshed” with a new design, sofa beds, armchairs, coffee tables and headboards.

Hope they brighten up Arcadia more than it looked when we went round her on a ship visit this year. It looked really drab and very beige. Didn't appeal to us one bit.

It's funny there's a lot about Arcadia we like and some things we don't. Be interesting to see what the same hull looks like with Cunard wallpaper when we do QV in 2019.
