No we haven't booked ;) We couldn't go away for that length of time, we have a dog. Although we do have a cruise booked for January 2020 :clap:
You certainly have something special to look forward to.

I am sure you will have a wonderful adventure, though I couldn’t go away for that long myself - and we don’t even have any pets.

But those that do it, usually say it’s a wonderful experience. Have fun with all the planning.

We haven't done a world cruise but we did the Aurora 65 nights South America cruise earlier this year. The main problem I found with insurance was getting a company that would cover our entire payment if we had to cancel before going, particularly if we had to cancel after paying our balance. We were in a mini suite so the amount was considerable. Many of the insurance companies I contacted would only give a total of between £5000 - £10,000 which would not have covered our outlay. Eventually I went through Holiday Extras - P&O's recommended company and Holiday Extras then put me in touch with someone else who would cover this. So if you can't find what you want elsewhere try Holiday Extras.

Insurance costs and availability of a suitable policy will depend on your age and pre-existing conditions.

Will locate a Topic or two and then add them here for you to read …

* TTravel Insurance - any Recommendations

* Travel Insurance - Conundrums

* Travel Insurance

* Travel Insurance - Revisitted

Those are the latest but note that the suggestions may be repeated.

On the subject of insurance, don't forget that your home insurance may not be valid for a prolonged absence. We had to go with a specialist insurer when we were away on a world cruise for 4 months.

I suppose it applies to all holidays but the anticipation and excitement of what is to come must be a lovely feeling...enjoy!

P.s Sadly due to all our charity obligations my family haven't had a holiday in 25 years...

If you have a heart like mine Donations to the 'onelife cruise appeal' would be very much appreciated

Thankyou

My wife and I are doing the whole cruise. I have a problem regarding medication. The surgery will only prescribe 3 months tablets ( actually 3 x 28 days) which is nowhere near enough! Worried!

I believe that if you go and see your GP and explain the situation he/she will do the necessary - it is the "automatic" system that cannot/will not allow more than three months. Yes I know that it is a waste of a GP's time but that is their system so they have to live with it.

Hi Sundance

Not sure when you go but.....

If you are using the automated prescription service just order your medication a few days earlier each month....by the time your cruise comes around you'll have amassed enough medication to open a chemist shop :thumbup:

Btw...If you have found this information useful a donation to the 'onelife cruise appea'l would be appreciated.

As usual Keefie your advice is a little too late, this is the 2020 Arcadia World cruise starting in Just over 3 weeks.

Currently in Sydney, saw Arcadia,she looked a tad scruffy,needs a good coat of paint.! A friend of my cousin joined her for the sail back to Southampton.

There's a hint there's something going on, on Arcadia.

They were due to pick up supplies at Durban, but, they have apparently been at anchor for 24 hours and a doctor has been dropped from a helicopter to 'test' sick passengers.

On another forum there was a comment Arcadia does not have enough fuel for the sail home, and she is in a queue waiting for refuelling, and probably fresh supplies of food as well.
