So all of the Adonia/Fathom operation now appears to have been a waste of time https://cruiseline.com/advice/what-s-ho ... es-to-cuba

Will that mean that P & O gets it back, or is the future mega big ships?

They did get it back and sold it to Azamara.

That was only ever a short-term operation. We were on one of the last cruises just before the Adonia/Fathom operation started and the gerneral view that it was a political decision for some reason by Carnival to build up some goodwill, get some sort of tax break or something.

I thought it was more to do with gaining access to Cuba for the "proper" cruise ships.

But whatever the reason it all seems to have been a waste of time.

Can't disagree there - although I suspect that she was destined to go sooner rather than later!

As are all ( P&O ) ships in the fullness of time of course but I dare say we could have fitted in a few extra cruises on Adonia had she stayed put.

You wouldn't have had much of a cruise if she had "stayed put"

You can still sail on her as Azamara Pursuit, but you will have to pay Azamara prices Moby, and Azamara also have two of Adonia's sister ships in Quest and Journey for you to enjoy.

That is very true …. but not out of Southampton as far as I am aware. Flying is out and in any event there seem to be too many insurance complications so basically we don't bother cruising any more.

You may recall that the best cruise we ever had on Adonia was when she ' stayed put ' during her ' Naming Do ' :D

Carnival were never prepared to put money into maintenance.
I was lucky to see Pursuit after she had had a multi million £ makeover.
She looked wonderful.
Carnival did the same with Artemis and again Artania looked wonderful after a makeover.
Pile them high and sell them cheap should be their motto.

Pacific Princess is also the same class and is also expensive. Oceania Cruises have four of the same class, Insignia, Nautica, Regatta and Serena.

We loved this Adonia too :(
