Adrift
I see on Facecloth that Ventura was adrift without engine power off Teneriffe last night awaiting a tug to tow her back in to port.

Re: Adrift
I seen something on CC and someone on board said they were safely in port and allowed to go ashore as they are sailing tonight at 9pm. Missing Lanzarote and going directly to Lisbon.

Oh dear. Now not sailing tonight and missing Lisbon. Awaiting men with spanners flying out to fix the widget. Perhaps they'll take the compo forms in their hand luggage.

Re: Adrift
I see that the next Ventura cruise has been completely cancelled.
Current passengers are being offered the choice of staying on board or flying home.

I know which I'd be taking. But different for those who have commitments at home.

There always is. Unless I was actually out of pocket then I think in these circumstances I would take a pragmatic approach - an extra three or four days free cruise would suit me.

Re: Adrift
It can not come as a surprise when these thing break down, it is a machine and no matter how much love and attention is given to the workings sometimes the unthinkable happens. At the end of the day ships are working none stop 24/7. I would not mind betting that something is still chugging away even when going back to dry dock.

Re: Adrift
Hope she is fixed by next May when I go on her - causing me considerable worry and stress - I mean they've only got five months to fix her may need one of those compo forms too Merv

Interesting comment from one cancelled customer: "thought they'd have a back up for these circumstances ". Spare ship just in case?

Re: Adrift
Well she's sailed but after a semicircle at 19 knots is now doing 14.5. Don't know if that was the plan to test things before settling to a leisurely cruise or if the widget has broken again.

Re: Adrift
Why don't they just ship out a new elastic band and be done with it, or at least have the spare ship prepped just in case.
