Spending money in carribean

Can I ask you please do I need currency for the ports ie US dollars or do most shops bars etc take cards?

Depends on where and what you are doing.

Many places will take cards but if you are in some of the more out of the way places, or the local markets, then cash would be preferable. Be aware though that if you use USD that you change will probably be in local currency - so better having low denomination notes.

Not too sure about cards but whenever we’ve been we took US dollars.
High end shops will probably take cards.
