X315 Iceland 24 July.

Anyone else going - or do we have the ship to ourselves?

Hi Nsam,

Well I know we are supposed to be there, but no cabin number has appeared as yet !
I expect as it is nearly 14 days that will change soon.

We are in the same boat - in more ways than one: - but the price differential between Getaway and Vantage fares made it well worth this little inconvenience. At a guess I would say that many others are doing the same thing, as the price of the getaway fare has gone up twice in the last week. However, I do wonder if we haven't been allocated a specific cabin before we get to Southampton, how they will know where to take our cases.

I will be travelling with my wife. Would you like to arrange to meet up on the first sea day?

I do wonder why they pester you to print off your tickets and baggage labels, when there is no point in doing so until somewhere to sleep has been allocated. This is only the second time we have had to wait so long for an allocation, previously the longest we waited was only a couple of weeks after booking ?

I am also travelling with my wife and also a couple of friends, and we would be quite happy to meet up. The normal arrangement seems to follow along the lines of :- Crows Nest, port side at xxxx hours. How does that sound to you, I'll let you pick a time, or do you have another suggestion ?

Glad to hear it. Ours hasn't come through yet, but I imagine you probably booked before us, as it's only just over a week since we did.
I'm happy with the arrangement of Crows Nest, port side - say 10am. My name on this group comes from a baseball cap which my wife bought me on Oceana last year. It has 'Ancient Mariner' on it, and I will wear it for identification purposes. Our names are Steve (generally known as Griff) and Penny.

OK Steve (Griff), that sounds good to me, I have added a reminder to my phone. I remember the Ancient Mariner caps well, and becomes more appropriate every day !

Posting in haste allowed a mistake in my previous email, not a balcony but an outside cabin. Our friends have not received notification of their cabin as yet, so the wheels are turning slowly :(

Our cabin allocation has now arrived. Port side (again - we've only once had a cabin on the starboard side of a ship), close to the aft staircase/lifts - so not too far to walk for breakfast!

Two weeks to go!

Now that is strange, out of all the trips we have done, they have all been starboard side bar one ! We are starboard side this time on Oriana but our next trip on Celebrity Eclipse is actually port side, for a change.

Time will fly from now on.

3 days to go now, packing has started and the weather has changed here. No sunshine at all today, but still reached 24C - although that feels cool now ?

Next stop Premier Inn on Tuesday.

See you soon,

John

Thanks Sue, I hope the former is true, but not so sure about the latter ?

I guess it's mostly down to the weather, but of course we still have a little time at sea, which is always relaxing.

We will try to look after her for you though !

Well that the bags packed ready for our trip down to Southampton tomorrow. Hope the weather is not as bad as the forecasters are saying :-(

Griff and Penny - see you Thursday as planned.

John
