Adonia Baltic September 2014

#1

Post by CaroleF »

Well we had a future cruise deposit to use and as there won't be any new cruises announced before our deposit expires next March we thought we'd take an opportunity to see what Adonia is like. I've read a lot of reviews and it seems that unless we want lots of different entertainment in the evening or the buffet open every evening, there are many advantages to cruising on a small ship. The smallest ship we've been on so far was Fred Olsen's Braemar, before she was 'stretched' and Adonia is smaller than that by just a little. Really looking forward to it.

Carole, anybody looking for plenty of activities, a proper tiered theatre, a dedicated cinema or a wrap around promenade deck will be disappointed. However if you like a relaxed, friendly and more intimate cruise experience I feel sure you will not be disappointed. Her main advantage is that she can go to ports which would be too small for the bigger ships so the itinerary for the Baltic is much more varied. In our forthcoming Baltic cruise we have only 5 sea days out of the 16 giving us 9 different ports in all. I do prefer the medium sized ships but Adonia is a lovely little ship and a good replacement for dear old Artemis.

Adonia will suit you perfectly ... providing you are looking for small, elegant and perfectly formed.

Even the buffet is a cut above the rest but the bathrooms are a tad on the small side as indeed are the balconies.

Is that observation based on the end of your holiday as opposed to the beginning?

Thanks, it sounds wonderful. We are not great ones for living it up in the evening, maybe the occasional show or quiz or just a quiet drink with people we have met onboard. I knew the bathrooms were a tad small and certainly the balconies on the virtual tour look quite small but as long as there's some outside space it will suit us and the library looks a good size - unlike the one on Azura!

The library is as lovely as the photographs depict.

and plenty of light for the jigsaw!

and another one in reception!

The mile circuit is the best we've come across - even if it takes 13 or so revolutions!

The alternate dining venues are also a treat, especially so if you are able to get a table with a ' view '

All above about Adonia is bang on. We did 2 weeks recently and would not hesitate to go on her again.

Carole, we did 3 weeks on Adonia last year and loved it. We found that if you were on early dinner and did not go to the main show that the ship was very quiet while the show was on and 2nd sitting were in the dining room. this did not bother us but other people may miss a little entertainment at this time. Otherwise we found entertainment above the average. The ship had a great atmosphere with very friendly crew who soon got to know you. Enjoy your cruise.
