Select Dining on Arcadia

#1

Post by Shirleybee »

We are cruising on Arcadia for the first time in September :D (J313 4 Nights) and I was wondering what select dining options are available and are they as good as those on Azura and Ventura?
Thanks!

There is the Ocean Room, a Marco Pierre White establishment, which last June was absolutely superb and the Orchid, an Asian Fusion restaurant, also very good, though not perhaps "fine dining".

Both well worth a visit.

Hi Shirley,

Arcadia has MPW Ocean Grill which is very nice but has roughly the same menu as his restaurants on the other ships. The Orchid is an Asian fusion restaurant that is much nicer - we ate there twice in August & recommend it highly - the Orchid bar is a lovely place for a pre and/or post dinner drink too. As we love Sindhu on Azura we were not disappointed with the Orchid.

Agree about the Orchid bar and restaurant. Fantastic views always eat there first night on board and then at least on 2 other nights as well. The Ocean grill is also very good but not as good as Arcadian Rhodes used to be.

Thank you for the replies, Is Orchid 'fusion' food like East or Sindhu?

Shirley, it is indeed.

Mixture of Indian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, (& Japanese?) I guess.

It's nice in there - but Ocean Grill is good too...but huge Marco portions.

Arcadia's Orchid is my favourite on board restuarant.

Not just for the food which is lovely, but for the views from the windows and the calm quiet atmosphere.

Orchid Bar is also a great place for your pre-dinner drink

I love Arcadia's Orchid restaurant and am now looking forward to MPW Ocean Restaurant - never fancied the menus at Arcadia Rhodes.

In my opinion MPW Ocean grill on Arcadia is nowhere near as good as Arcadian Rhodes was and view it best as good pub food.

I love the Orchid restaurant on Arcadia. If you are on for 14 nights the menu changes three times . We tried all three and each one was excellent.
Love the setting as both the restaurant and the bar are on Deck 11 so the views are great.

The staff are lovely and there is no problem in getting a table for two .

Went to the Marco restaurant once and that is excellent also. Cover charge is higher than Orchid.

If you are interested in seeing sample menus go onto P&O site I think you can find them on the question and answer section..

The first time we were on Arcadia in 2010 we thought the food in Orchid was just ok but when we were on her last year we went again & thought it was excellent :)

We also enjoyed Ocean Grill although we didn't think it was as good as Arcadian Rhodes used to be :(

I think they're usually quite busy on shorter cruises Shirleybee, we were on a 13 nighter & booked when we got on the ship ... we booked at short notice for a second time in Ocean Grill & there wasn't much availability :!:

ShirleyB The best thing to do is book as soon as you can when you get on the ship.

I am not absolutely sure but I think you can reserve a table a few days before. It may tell you this on the Question and answer section.

Hope you have lovely cruise .

We have dined in Orchid several times, just for a change really, we don't think it is anything special..it's "OK". The crew seem to like it there. Sindhu is FAR superior these days. We booked MPW's on Oceana once but when we checked up onboard they had no idea what we were talking about..''no record sir'' so even if you do book up..check!

When we made our second booking for Ocean Grill, we checked that the different menu to what we had the first time would be served.

Despite having this confirmed, we were disappointed to find when we got there that it was in fact the same menu! :x

John, We have eaten in Sindhu many times now and I agree its fantastic. I'm excited to try a different ship and as many different venues as I can in my limited time on board!

The first time we dined in Sindhu we thought it was the worst dinner we never ate...on boarding last time I was assailed by Kevin the new manager (used to be restaurant manager on Arcadia)...who said Mr John..you must come back we are much better now...he was right too, one of the best dinners I have ever had..the best was "ocean liners" on Celebrity Constellation with wine matched to food.
