Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
Hi quick question on dress code, our first cruise in June aboard Azura, do you have to comply to the dress code? Or are there areas on aboard where you don't have to dress up?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
Welcome Jojo.
You don't have to adhere to the dress code at all but on those nights where a dress code applies you will not be allowed into the main dining rooms or some bars. The buffet will be available to you.
Dressing up for a formal night (which I presume is what you are asking about) is a cruising tradition and the ship does take on a different ambiance seeing everybody dressed in their finery compared to T shirts and shorts during the day.
However if you are sure it's not for you the choice is yours.

Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
Hi, joejoe and welcome to Cruise Community Forum. You don't make it clear if it is your first ever cruise, so I will assume that it is. I speak from a personal point of view and I will say that the Formal nights to me are all part of my overall enjoyment of the cruise, to see fellow cruisers don their glad rags give these nights that special feeling to make it a bit special. OK, you may hear some say it's a throw back to the old days, or that the rest of the year, unless going to a Ball or a special occasion you would not dress up. Well yes this is true, if you go out to the theatre, restaurant etc, most people are 'casual' if not down rite scruffy which is the way things are today. I find it sad that some people can not make an effort to go out looking tidy.
On a cruise Formal night you will find the Gents looking smart in their Dinner Suits or dark suits and the Ladies are absolutely lovely in their gowns and dresses.
I do not have a problem with anyone who prefer to not dress for the occasion, every one to their own, but there are parts of the ship where you must conform with the dress code the enter. If this is your first ever cruise, I will highly recommend you to give it a go,on your next cruise you will be in a better position to decide.
What ever you do JoeJoe, have a great cruise.

Formal gear is not required for evening dining in the Buffet on ' Formal Nights ' but it is in the Main Dining Rooms, smart caj is however ok in the Select Dining Venues, Sindhu for example. Enjoy the cruise and don't worry about ' Formality '.

Not all select dining venues - Epicurean adheres to the dress code (or at least it did last year)Manoverboard wrote: ↑07 Mar 2018, 10:38mart caj is however ok in the Select Dining Venues, Sindhu for example

Hi jojo,
Without a doubt you'll stand out from the crowd should you not adhere to the dress code on formal nights (6pm onwards) but hey! that's not what you're asking ...plenty of places to hang about in with the bennifit of the buffet restaurants generally dishing up something a little different on formal nights .....such a curry nights and European cuisine delights.
Can't beat a good curry l say
Have fun.

Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
My thoughts were that Sindhu would be a better choice, Epicurean may not appeal to those passengers who do not warm to the Formal element of P&O cruising. Would add that World Cruise / World Segment passengers, including Moi, will avoid the Formal venues from time to time cos all that dressing up for a Spag Bol gets on yer tits after a whiledavid63 wrote: ↑07 Mar 2018, 12:34Not all select dining venues - Epicurean adheres to the dress code (or at least it did last year)Manoverboard wrote: ↑07 Mar 2018, 10:38mart caj is however ok in the Select Dining Venues, Sindhu for example

Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
With our next cruise five weeks away it was time to start checking what we were taking.
So after getting the dinner suit out and trying it on, Mrs B decided it's sharpness was not quite there and the fact that the trousers were a tad difficult to button up, a new DJ was required.
A trip to the city, and a new suit was purchased leaving a dent in the wallet. After nearly thirty years of service and a lot of use at Balls and Cruising my new suit will never see that much excitement.
So, if you are on the same cruise as me and your wife turns to you and say, look, is that Daniel Craig, no, it's just me.

Re: What will the dress code be onboard?
My DJ is about 15 years old and still fits.
It's shrunk a little around the waist but still comfortable enough.
Only worn on a cruise ship or the annual Ladies Night.

Mine is 17yrs old and will be coming out for an airing for our cruise at the weekend. Have had a life style change (dieting) the last six weeks so it should fit more comfortably now I’m a racing snake.

My trousers were a bit tight around the waist but I put it down to the sea air shrinking the material.

Thats what happens when you hang your strides over the balcony for an airing.
