R432 Ruby Princess 10 July 2014 - British Isles

#1

Post by Jan Rosser »

Can't believe I've booked this cruise today - wasn't even looking for one in July but at a knockdown price even with a single supplement I've gone and done it

Looking forward to sailing on a Princess ship again - it is nine years since I last sailed on the Sea Princess transatlantic from Southampton to New York.

Snap also booked yesterday. Even at a knockdown price was able to chose my cabin and dining options and got what I wanted to boot.

Usually stay the night before in Southampton but there is no room at the inn. Every hotel is totally booked solid and those that are left are silly prices. So its getting up at silly o'clock to get to Southampton - fortunately it is a Saturday so traffic should be light getting there. Any updates on the roadworks?

Welcome aboard Royal Princess - did they name the ship after you ;)

I think you've got your dates mixed up - 10 July is a Thursday - perhaps you could check again for hotels on the Wednesday night. The reason they are all booked up on the Friday is probably because there are four ships sailing on the Saturday. Not sure about the road works but I'm sure someone will help us out nearer the date with the situation.

Well this time next week I'll be on my way to Southampton to stay overnight before my trip around Britain. No cabin allocated yet - hope I'm not sleeping in the lifeboats  I'd better start my packing - only two formal nights out of the 12 - the rest smart casual - American style - I'm anticipating a lot of them on board.

I am sure you'll have a fabulous time. There are so many amazing deals now, but sadly, for a while we shan't be able to snap them up

Thanks Gill - I'm sure I'll enjoy myself - well just having all your meals prepared for you plus the company and entertainment and seeing parts of the UK I've not been to make it all worthwhile

Cabin allocated - no upgrade to a suite unfortunately but a higher grade than I paid for  Packing almost finished just toiletries, glasses, jewellery to sort out. Tried very hard not to take too much but at the last count 14 pairs of shoes plus ones to travel in - hope I've packed enough ;)

Travelling down to Southampton with my friends on Wednesday and sailing on Thursday - getting excited now :!:

Well I'm on board ( plus extra pair of shoes bought in Southampton !!) and have to say I'm impressed with the ship, the crew, the priority given to Elite passengers far outweighs P&O and lunch was very good - being waited on in the buffet was quite a novelty.

The trip was booked with no extras but there was a 25$ gratuity added to on board account too [emoji106] well that will buy a few drinks plus the free mini bar in cabin.

Lots of American accents and my cabin steward is called Romeo - ooh la la !!!

Ta ra for now [emoji6]

The Ship is at Liverpool next Monday [14th] so will be there to have a look. We did the 'Round Britain' trip on Arcadia in 2011 which we enjoyed and it was interesting too; have a good trip.
