Oceana dress code

#1

Post by mrsport »

I booked last year for June this year, on the invoice it said formal nights and one jacket requird, yet in the brochure itt says formal nights and country casual. Hubby not sure if he needs to take the extra jacket or not.

Try looking at your cruise personaliser it may give the codes??
I wish they would just be consistant in this.

Hi mrsport, there may be more information at this link.
If in doubt it is best to pack a lightweight jacket since they may well enforce the rule strictly in the areas to which it applies. However if you are happy to dine elsewhere on that night then you could give it a miss.

Normally the summer cruises on Oceana do not have any jacket nights, but it's best to check.

I get confused with Oceana because on some cruises she seems to have 'Jacket req'd' nights and on others not. All I can say is that we've booked her for a cruise this June and there's definitely 2 'Jacket required' nights mentioned on our details so hubby is taking his jacket.

I agree with John. I don't think the chopping and changing is helpful. A consistent policy for each ship would be preferable.

Looking at the P&O website it appears that the 3 code was introduced last October, and is programmed in until March 2014 (E404).

There are only 2 codes on the short cruises, including 4 night cruises.

So, maybe there is going to be some consistency?

I remember when the dropped "semi formals" on Oceana & Ventura...much gnashing if teeth...then they seemed to change it back for some cruises, at one time no fly cruises to the Caribbean has semi formals, then it appeared they reintroduced it on some ships....WE are confused & WE know this stuff, imagine what it's like for someone popping into a TA to look at cruises or booking one then without realising it at the time discovering these confusing dress codes.

Hi all, I can not say that I have seen the dress code 'Country Casual' used before. Is this another one to look out for?

What a strange term is 'Country Casual'. It smacks to me of brown brogues, moleskin trousers and Tattershall check shirts. What was wrong with smart casual? Little wonder that newcomers to cruising get confused.

That's an American term I think " Country Club Casual" maybe they mean.

Thanks JD, I was thinking that the boys from that Darset may turn up in wellies, a smock, old battered hat and a straw in the mouth, but now I know.

We are booked on Oceana in September and the personalizer states that we have 4 black tie, 4 smart (jacket required) and 6 casual nights.

Only 30 weeks to go and counting down :D
