Britannia Naming Ceremony and Events
Wanted to watch the naming etc.. As we did with Azura in Mayflower Park, but PandO are not doing anything at all for the public... See email copy below:
Good morning Jenni,
I hope you are well.
I understand that you are interested in being involved in the Britannia events. Unfortunately we are not holding any public events for the launch of Britannia but I can certainly let you know that she is due to arrive in Southampton at around 1pm on Friday 6th March and Mayflower Park will be a great place to watch from.
I hope this helps and please do let me know know if there is anything else that I can help you with.
Thank you and kind regards
Heather
...what a shame......

They seem to be playing their cards very close to their chest for the launch of Britannia.

I've got mine, although there appears to be one or two cut backs since the Adonia naming ceremony.
It's all been laid on......... quayside front row view, thermos flask, a pack of sandwiches and allocated tent pitch

Re: Britannia Naming Ceremony and Events
I've been keeping an eye out for Britannia for a while on my Ship Tracker App and until recently she was invisible, but she can now be seen, or at least her transponder can, sitting alongside in Montfalcone.
The Tracker info shows her as British, rather than Bermuda registered. I wonder if that is correct - it would certainly be appropriate to her name - but I remember P&O changed the rest of the fleet to Hamilton Bermuda to enable weddings to take place aboard.
I've been doing sums too with the aid of another App (I know, too much time on my hands) and reckon that, depending on the speed she travels and whether she stops anywhere, it will take between 5 and 7 days to get to Southampton. So to get there as planned on 6th March she needs to be underway sometime between 27th Feb and 1st March - so in a further effort to avoid washing up I'll have my beady eye on her.
And as an anorak, I couldn't help wondering, when a ship is travelling without a full complement of paying passengers do they turn the lights out inside to save polar bears, or once switched on do they stay on until the ship is decommissioned? I know, sad isn't it!
22 more sleeps.

I seem to recall that the same thing happened with Azura and the registry was changed shortly after. It is probably some legal/technical/insurance thing.Mervyn and Trish wrote:The Tracker info shows her as British, rather than Bermuda registered. I wonder if that is correct

There's a couple of scraggy old pigeons hanging round in our garden, and a milk bottle on the step. What time should I get there?qbman1 wrote:Any time - it's always bring a bird and a bottle at my place though !
