one wonders if those anticipating the ambience, anticipated the total lack of interest in ambience, anticipated or not, of those who don't dress up like some sort of relic from the 1930's and are happy to be individuals not sheep?

QB/DK:
Yours "Wit" is no substitute for understanding and I propose not to waste by 'breath' explaining my views which are well-understood by the many cruisers who are of a similiar view as mine.

Dear Mr Kane
I am to take you refusal to answer my enquiry, as your inability to express your views in a way that sounds remotely credible in this day and age.
I would also ask which cruisers are similar in any way to your goodself?

Of course, we regulars understand each other fairly well after all this time but there are still newcomers who have yet to be entertained. However, if one posts an opinion as to the behaviour and attire of fellow cruisers then it is not unreasonable to anticipate a reply propounding an alternative point of view. Such is the nature of a forum.

Evenings and people, I take them as I find them. I try not to anticipate anything and I am never disappointed.Dark Knight wrote:QB

I for one like to 'dress up' now and again. Four formal nights in a 2 week cruise is adequate for me though, but I would have no objection to a higher proportion of 'jacket required' nights. What does irritate me, is the minority who seem to think rules do not apply to them and that they can do/dress whatever/however they like, and b*gger everyone else.

It is only the minority that don't adhere to the dress codes.
It's such a small minority that it's really not worth getting bothered about.
So if you see somebody not complying with the code for the night, whether it's wearing casual clothes on a formal night, or a jacket and tie on a casual night (as dressing whatever/however they like can take many forms) just let them get on with it.
They do stand out, but they aren't doing me any harm - I just concentrate on enjoying myself.

check what the actual rules are first...there's a good fellow, then you and everyone else, who gets it wrong can start apologising for constantly berating people who really do know the rules

I just posted on the Meeting Place thread. A bunch of about 5 couples from Cruisecritic are meeting at 16.45 or just after at the Terrace Bar, non smoking side. So see you there if you fancy meeting up.
