Arabian Gulf

#1

Post by Kendhni »

It looks we are seeing more and more cruises in the Arabian Gulf ... is this becoming a new alternative to the Caribbean?

There have always been cruises in this region but lately it seems to be much more prevalent in the literature I have been receiving. We have been looking at such a cruise for March 2019 - and seem to be spoilt for choice.

I don't think the Arabian ports are all the same. We found them to have different personas, much like the Caribbean islands are all very different.

The main problem with the Gulf states is that they have very little history. Due to the fact that up until about 50 years ago they were nomads and did not put down any roots.

Yes they have many modern impressive buildings and plenty of sand - but there is a limit as to how many camel rides you want to go on or how many times you want to go Wadi Bashing!

One thing that the Gulf States do have though is many excellent restaurants, but that is not of much use when you are on a cruise.
