Surely there is plenty of scope within the "smart casual" dress code to dress down for dinner in the MDR on the last night - and if I wanted to experience a "relaxed ambience" the last place I would go is the buffet !! You can always get steak and chips in the MDR if that is your heart's desire.
We are perfectly happy to eat in the buffet, albeit we prefer the Celebrity experience, and have no illusions of grandeur that would cause us to see it as a ' step down '. As for Steak n Chips, we much prefer the freshly cooked versions as served in the speciality venues rather than the heat it up in the oven version as served in the MDR.

Just saying ...
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I thought that the grandeur was an RCI ship, not one of your P&O favourites Cubie!

We've only used the buffet for dinner once and that was because there was an event we really wanted front row seats for so wanted to get there really early. It was okay but not for us by choice. Really prefer the atmosphere of the MDR or select dining venues.
