Upcomming Changes

Post by david63 »

Apparently P&O produce crew videos on Youtube - here is the latest one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E03xZS ... pp=desktop.

The interesting points for passengers are that there are some changes to dining options and menus coming and a "drinks package" is to be trialled.

Have watched the video the crews quarters looked very nice and their prices were much lower ;)
I thought it was interesting that they mentioned trailing housekeeping changes. When it was mentioned on here about the "turn down" stopping perhaps that's what it was :( also the dining room waiters having more tables, we'll be getting it thrown at us at that rate !!

We would much prefer to take our ' bestest ' crockery than use the cheapo P&O stuff … just saying

Don't suggest it. We take the kitchen sink already.

We were on Oriana in March and in the MDR our wine writer had so many tables to see too we had started our main course sometimes before the wine arrived.

I think the waiters have more than enough tables to see to the passengers needs properly.

That is why it is better to use the wine line or order the previous night.

On the surface it all looks good especially for the wellbeing of the staff. However if the outworkings of this means a bed change reduced to weekly and dirty tableclothes as we experienced it is not good at all.

The problem for us is we need to decide what we're eating before we choose the wine.

To some extent I would agree, that is when the Wine Line comes in. You can view menus in various venues prior to going for dinner. In fact if you ask the wine waiter he will bring you the menu for the following night so that you can choose.

As we always have red wine with dinner and there are only about three or four red wines on the list that we both like, and I am prepared to pay the price of, it is not a difficult decision.

The problem is that if you are Freedom Dining you can't use the wine line. I know'cos I've tried!!
