Cabin Numbering

Looking at the deck plans for Iona it would appear that there is a change in the way that cabins are numbered. Previously it has been deck by letter i.e. E268 now it is deck by number i.e. 12.429

I wonder if this is in readiness for when ship have more than 26 decks and they run out of alphabet!

I have to say that it has often baffled me, and probably many others, when they say that a venue is on deck 2 but it is called deck F

I took a quick look at Iona's deck plans but realised that it ran over two pages and lost interest.
I'd never say never, but don't really think that it will appeal too much to us.
I'm guessing that it will be aimed securely at the family market for the summer but what will they do with it in the winter.

I have written twice to complain and got the usual twaddle - they even suggested I'd had the temerity to move house (we've only been here for 41 years!)

Easily confused, I know, but I find more of a problem with the reverse direction of deck letters (names) compared to the deck number especially around decks 4 & 5 (E & D). But then it always takes me a couple of days to get used to turning the Unitap in the bathroom the correct way to get hotter water.
I will miss the naming of decks but I think it will be simpler.

Perhaps it is "industry standard" making it easier to move ships around in the future.
