Tortuga Rum Co.
Bought a nice Rum selection pack here - lots of interesting flavours.
Really liked the pineapple flavour one.

When we went to Grand Cayman, we just walked round George Town. It was one of those Americanised places and busy , as there were 4 ships in.

Re: Coronavirus Virtual Cruise
It is a tender port, so you can see all the giant cruise ships. Our route back to Oceana took us up close and personal to the Disney ship

Mahogany Bay is one of those cruise ship owned private islands/beaches.

There is a really excellent looking zip line which I must try and do if I ever get there again.

I have no doubt about that, perhaps they were inactive in the tourist season or were elsewhere ?allatc wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 18:30No mozzies when we were there.Manoverboard wrote: ↑04 Jul 2020, 16:10It does look nice but I recall a program that said it was the Capital of the Universe ... When I went to the West Indies there was a trip to go zip lining. I had the foresight to check with my insurance company to see if I was covered for it and they said not. Apparently no travel insurance covers this so it’s worth checking

Port area was "Carnival made" - very clean and bright but touristy. Perhaps travelling out and about would have been better.

Re: Coronavirus Virtual Cruise
It was a beautiful day and we thought the touristy town of San Miguel de Cozumel was a very pleasant and clean Port. We started off with a walk along the prom where a feller in a Jade Shop invited me to buy something, “ No thanks, but maybe later “ I politely replied. Some three hours later on our way back to the ship he caught me again and asked if I would care to buy something this time We basically did a general look see type walkabout along the two main streets of that time although I had previously identified a Mexican Restaurant that I would have liked to have sampled but the chums we were with thought exotic food was adding a couple of tinned peaches to a Sunday Roast so we finished up with a cup of coffee plus a Ham ’n’ Cheese Baguette instead. Welcome to Mexico I remember thinking

Re: Coronavirus Virtual Cruise
We docked at San Miguel, Cozumel and then took an excursion by ferry (about 90 mins) to Playa del Carmen and then a coach (another 90 mins) to Chichen Itza.
That is a really interesting place if you are into ancient civilisations but we only had two hours there so barely scratched the surface so to speak.

Re: Coronavirus Virtual Cruise
It was our original intention to do the Chichen Itza tour, but we saw that it was quite a long journey with not much time at the site, so we decided to do a 'Best of Cozumel' tour instead. As it turned out it was the right decision for the day. We had a nice leisurely tour before the weather turned. The latter part of the day was overcast and windy. As a result the Chichen Itza tour was very late back, and everyone looked cold and a bit dejected.
