on land, if we come into contact with a person with c19, we have to self isolate
Only if you know that you have been in contact with them for more than 15 minutes. Just passing somebody in the street that may have Covid-19 does not mean that you have to go into quarantine!

I’m with barney on this - I’m more concerned about the port situation than the ship - also on Arcadia on the World cruise some of the staff were using the terminals for drinks with no need for slips and some times they didn’t! There didn’t seem to be any consistency...it’s a bit of a nightmare for p and o eh!!

Also for us on the subject of shore experiences we like to do our ‘own thing’ in ports - if we are no longer able to do that it would be a deal breaker as to whether we cruise again - but I can see how high a risk doing your own thing could potentially be

I’m less concerned about being on the ship to how the port situation will be.
What’s the point of going to a lovely destination only for it to be half closed with lots of restrictions?
Imagine trying to walk around say the Vatican in a mask and being rushed?
Where you see problems Barney, I see opportunities…walking round the Vatican wearing a 'mask' while carrying silverware does have it's benefits

A ship is a different sort of environment. We don’t just walk past someone once, we see the same people again and again, in a closed community.

Yes and no Gill.

We've met people and got chatting before boarding only to never clap eyes on them for the remainder of the cruise.

I can remember speaking with some really friendly people at the safety briefing and then never see them again for the entire cruise.

I think that, apart from dining and the lift foyers, it will be reasonably easy to maintain social distancing on board, especially if they intend to run at only 60-70% occupancy.

Access to the ' Dining Room ' via the staircases could be a tough nut to crack, do viruses float up or down I wonder ...

Now there is a good idea, get rid of all the shops, except the cruise essentials, and make them into bar and lounge seating.

That’s strange. I was thinking get rid of the bars and lounges :eh:

I had wondered if they might do some of the internal refurbishing for Azura's refit whilst she was lolling around the south coast, and I believe Allure of the Seas was also due a refit before the summer season.

I hope this link will take you to the English version of Mein Schiffs 10 point post covid protocol, it makes quite interesting reading and doesn't highlight any major uncomfortable procedures.

My browser would allow for translation but it was a bit laborious.

Whist most of what is in there makes sense I do get the feeling that it will be quite different on board and that there will be a lot more regimentation.

Probably, for many reasons, the most difficult thing in there for P&O to adopt is the fixed check-in times, but I can see the necessity for it. There is more than enough moaning about check-in times, and the ignoring of them, now so what that would be like is difficult to imagine.

I agree check in will need to be more regimented, and before I reached Caribbean level I was a severe critic of P&Os current system, and generally ignored the time given. But in future it will need to be well policed and observed.
