Will cruise ships return to Venice
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54478119
One of my favourite cruise evenings was departing Venice and sailing through the Grand canal - a beautiful sight to behold. It would be a shame if this experience would be lost.

Indeed.
Stunning memories.
A warm evening.
Sitting on your own private balcony with a glass or two of bubbly.
Then a quick change and off to the Glass House for dinner.
Fine food. Fine wine. Fine company.
That’s what holidays are made of.

In Venice one can wear a mask and feel regal rather than threatened .... just saying

You did mean the Guidecca canal I assume, I doubt any cruise ship could fit under the Rialto bridge on the Grand Canal.Kendhni wrote: ↑22 Oct 2020, 07:54https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54478119

That is the second time I have typed 'Grand' this morning instead of what I really mean (must have something on my mind). Yes you are correct the one between thingy and doophie-dinkle ... but never underestimate the power of my shrinking ray as I endeavour to rule this world.towny44 wrote: ↑22 Oct 2020, 09:23You did mean the Guidecca canal I assume, I doubt any cruise ship could fit under the Rialto bridge on the Grand Canal.Kendhni wrote: ↑22 Oct 2020, 07:54https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54478119

We were taken by launch back into the city after most tourists had departed. Moonlit evening - just 5 or 6 gondolas along with a musician playing classical music. Sounds corny but it was absolutely magical and well worth every penny.

Re: Will cruise ships return to Venice
There seems to be a bit of a fight going on between those that want to keep cruise ships out of Venice and the port workers fighting their corner.
I just love our visits to Venice but the tourists do tend to get in my way.

Best to drink Coffee with Brandy in the winter, ice cold beer makes one pee too much
