Re: WORDLE
By pure fluke I got the first two and last two letters on the second attempt but it then took me ages to think what on earth the middle letter could be. I keep in the back of my mind that whoever sets the words is American so that was what gave it to me in the end. I did guess that the answer may have something to do with basketball.

Re: WORDLE
Thanks for the tip Jan as a result, and because I got 3 letters in my first word and one in the correct position, I was able to get it in 2. But I confess I do get a bit of help from Bestwordlist.com.

Well..............!!
Today's (7/5) word certainly doesn't trip off a Brit's tongue let alone an American!! Had to resort to a little online help!

Re: WORDLE
Certainly don't think it's a word used much nowadays, maybe years ago. Surprised an American would pick it. Got in in 4 after guessing last two letters correctly, plus one but not in the correct place which definitely limited what the answer could be.

Re: WORDLE
Saturday’s was a word I still use. I managed it in four. I just couldn’t see a possible solution after my second attempt and entered ‘Didst’- now that really is rarely used, in row 3. I then spotted the lonely ‘m’ at the bottom of the keyboard & all was

I remember the actor Kevin Whatley using the term canny in a tv programme - Lewis maybe - but didn’t realise there are different meanings - learn something new everyday

Oh dear Jan, I made the mistake of looking at this site before attempting Wordle! Never mind I got told I was a Genius!

Yes, don't worry, it was good being called a Genius and I don't expect it'll happen again! The best I've done in reality is 2 and that really was a fluke. Just happened to guess correctly.

‘Informal American’…much wailing & gnashing of teeth in Ranchi Towers this morning. Beware! (It’s in one of the variants - not Wordle.)

Re: WORDLE
I took 4, should have got it in 3. I was making it more complicated than it actually was.

Re: WORDLE
I've just been reading that today's word was changed at some point during the day. So some of us may have been trying to find one word and others another. I did wonder when I read Ranchi's comment. It didn't seem to relate to my word. Apparently the word was changed as it 'was too politically charged is is closely related to a major news event.' The original word was 'fetus' and the word I solved was 'shine'. I wonder if that was the word Ranchi had as 'shine' didn't seem to have much to do with 'informal Americanism'.

Re: WORDLE
Oh, sorry! I didn’t want to spoil it by giving the word away. It wasn’t Wordle but Quordle which had the informal American term. I had never come across the term as anything other than a boy’s name I imagine it is probably onomatopoeic (is that correctly spelt?)
