How do I get and print out the result in the hotel? I don't expect you to have the answer David but to say it is all something about nothing and nothing has changed is confusing.
You can take the test anywhere so it does not matter if you are travelling or not. You will get the result sent to your smartphone (only if you have one) - nothing needs printing out.

In many ways it is no different to being tested at the terminal except you do not have to wait around for half an hour waiting for the result. OK you may have travelled to the hotel and have to return but that is not much different that travelling all the way to the terminal

Many hotels advertise office facilities available, so I would expect them to have a printer, if needed.

I fully expect this not to be our problem. All the issues we fear will arise at the first turnaround under the new rules. It is inconceivable that among 5000 passengers on Iona there won't be every snag we've imagined and more. It would have been so much easier for everyone, including them, if they'd made it 48 hours.

I emailed P&O to ask if there will be any back up testing facilities to help where guests have encountered any problems. The answer is no. They say it is guests' responsibility and there will be no testing facilities at the terminal. That is, of course, untrue, because unvaccinated children are required to test at the terminal in addition to the 24 hour test so there must be testing facilities there. What they really mean is stuff you, you can't use them if you have a problem.

Keefie probably has some (he has surplus supplies of everything else)

Seriously, they will have to get the test done at a pharmacy or other testing site, whicg I accept may not be that easy to arrange.

In summary we pay our money and order a lateral flow test from one of the approved websites (Stephen's link looks good!! ). We download their app.

24 hours before we are due to board we take the test and download photo evidence of the result into the app. Within a short(ish) space of time a confirmation email comes back which we can then present to the terminal authorities.

I am presuming the app has some means of downloading the photo evidence?

Is that what we are being asked to do or have I missed something here?

As has already been suggested a 48 hour window would be better and would mean a wasted journey down to Southampton the day before would be avoided. This would be particularly relevant for those travelling from Ireland or the Isle of Man.

That is the way that I understand the procedure.

The Randox test looks quite promising - it is £12 delivered, although delivery is slower that some others, but I don't see that as a problem if you are not cruising for several weeks. The one plus point, well two actually, is that their app appears to work (unlike Prenetics) and you can have up to four people's data on the app - could make like a lot simpler for many. The downside is that it takes three hours to get the results.

I am assuming that all of these "Fit to Fly" tests can be processed over a weekend.

Do you possess a tablet or a light weight lap top that could travel with you Moby, if so you could use that.

If you can post on here, and know how to use the camera on the tablet, then you should be able to send a photo of your completed and hopefully negative test kit via the app to your chosen providor, or at least I hope it's so simple because that's what I will be doing.

No app required with the company below, just click on 'Register Kit' at the top of their web page and follow the instructions.

And no, I'm not on commission :)

We intended to stay with friends in Salisbury before our June cruise.
Looks like that will now be impossible if we need to test 24hours before the cruise leaving.
It’s not on the 4th is it.?

Nah!
It would have been the 24th.
Mrs B will be calling them over the weekend to let them know that we won’t be staying over.
Kinda suits me anyway 👍

Thank you for your concern, obf - glad somebody cares :( . We have a four hour boat trip, stay overnight with our cruising friends then a five hour coach journey from Preston to Southampton the following day. That's not until October but if these draconian rules still apply when our final payment is due in July, right now I'm inclined just not to bother - we'll go to Peel instead! "Take a test and download photo evidence of the result into the app.??" What's a smartphone?
