Re: Iona
When we booked last week we were looking to book an outside cabin but none were available so went for an inside.
On looking at the cabins thought they were a bit on the small side,so today started looking at balcony cabins, but due to the date of the cruise 10th December to the Christmas markets thought wouldn't get any use from the balcony.
Up popped an outside cabin so we have now upgraded and feel pretty pleased.

Re: Iona
We really enjoyed our Christmas Markets Cruise on Oriana, Hamburg was one of our ports.
If available may I suggest a trip to Luneburg, of salt and a Hansiatic fame. Their Christmas display was, we thought, fantastic. A small selection of pics for you, there is a large town to see in a river setting.

Re: Iona
Well we've done our on-line check-in for our forthcoming Iona cruise and it was pretty straightforward. The only hiccup was that P&O's wonderful IT system had mangled the passport details I had previously added to the personal information section, to the number of an old passport I haven't had since 2013 and a completely random expiry date. Having sorted that we now have our e-tickets, boarding passes and luggage labels printed.
Despite the two cabins being booked by me at the same time, next door to one another, and being linked on their system, it has given us a priority boarding time of 12.00 and our daughter and grand-daughters 15.45. Since we are travelling together in the same car that ain't going to happen. We'll probably arrive at 12.00 and see if common sense prevails. All the booking centre could say was "probably".
We've also booked the two theatre shows that are available for booking. That of course had to be done separately for each cabin. Does anyone who has been on Iona recently know if pre-booked theatre tickets come with specific seat numbers or if it just gets you into the theatre? Despite the cabins being linked if its the former I wouldn't be surprised if seats are allocated far apart!

Merv, by all means take half the tree with you that you printed off but don’t expect P&O staff to want to see it. Out of all our paper work they only wanted to see approx two or three documents.
I will say this though, the boarding system works very efficiently. We were checked in and onboard in no time at all.

Re: Iona
I’d take everything possible.
Belt and braces
When we travelled they wanted proof of vaccinations, proof of lft, passport etc.
I had hard copy of everything which made it easier for them.
I’d registered credit card and checked in online and did the health declaration online.
It was the best and quickest check in ever.
Definitely take a hard copy of the boarding pass because they stamp it ok to board.
As for booking the theatre, I didn’t book before travelling.
No seating was allocated and we just gave cabin number on entering.
Now having said that the ship was well under capacity so it may be different now.
When we went to Sindhu the first time I booked onboard on the app and the second time just went there and booked at the desk.
Again it may be different now.

Merv, do they do that on purpose to make sure you do check the details.?
We always seem to have to re do it on every cruise.

The app is not very efficient.
A. It doesn’t keep up with you account spending even if you leave it overnight to update, so we relied on the old fashion method of going to reception.
B. Same goes for booking shows. The app would say fully booked, but if you spoke to a member of crew that stand at the entrance to a show they would book you in on their iPad no problem.

Re: Iona
Had no problems with the app when on Britannia in June. Any charges were shown on your account almost immediately - could order a drink in a bar and before it arrived the charge would be on the account.
There were instances where the charge was handled manually and that could take days to get processes, but all the automatic ones were almost instant
