Balcony Cabin

#1

Post by Diddywestmidlands »

Hi I am looking to book a Norway Cruise on Iona next July and would like advice on the best standard balcony cabin to book. I have been told midship lower deck is best for least movement being felt. Any tips would be appreciated

We would go for a higher deck ideally right on the aft if only for the views. In July it should be as calm as calm can be but if not then it will be like a ride on the big dipper

ps ... Hello and welcome

My wife is not a great sailor so we always choose midships. We usually go for about half way up. Best to choose a deck with cabins above and below to avoid any noise from the public decks.

Welcome to the forum Diddywestmidlands

Midships cabin always for us, preferably C or D deck. But the choice and budget is yours.

Iona is a very stable ship, she does roll a little but far less than P&Os other big ships. We have had cabins mid/fwd on deck 15, and mid/aft on deck 12, the rolling was more noticeable on deck 15, but on deck 6, the atrium level, it was non existant. So midship decks 10 or 11 are probably your best option, but they will have higher prices.

Just returned from Fjords cruise on Iona deck 10 Aft cabin. Great except for noise vibration through bed and walls coming from nightclub on deck 8. Avoid the rear of this ship above Clubhouse if you don't like noise.

Good advice.
I always book a cabin with other cabins above, below and opposite.
I was given that advice by an experienced cruiser before I booked my first one.
Glad you had a good time.
When you book your next one, you will have more awareness.

Balcony Cabins are very good, but if this is your first time to Norway and the weather is good, get up to the decks where you can see both sides and there will be so much to see you won't know which side to look. Fantastic Scenery all around.
Have a great cruise.
Don't worry, be happy
