Dining with a preschooler

#1

Post by Tonic99 »

Hello.

I will be travelling with my 4 year old on the iona in a few weeks time. I want to try some of the speciality resteraunts. He is a good eater but would not eat anything on the menu in Sindu for example.

Can you order from the standard childrens menu when dining in the speciality resteraunts?

Alternatively, could I pop up and get something from the buffet and bring it to the resteraunts?

One thing that the waiters in all P&O restaurants are very good at is looking after children.

Probably not as it would mean getting food from different dining rooms.

Possible - but never seen it done.

What I would do is as soon as you can once onboard speak with the manager of the restaurants that you want to go to and explain your situation and ask for their advice.

Hi Tonic,

To be honest with you I haven’t got a clue but it is nevertheless an interesting question…Just off my head it probably wouldn’t be seen as good etiquette but you can but ask. If you are travelling alone with your child? then I can see why you would be asking this question. We haven’t cruised for a long time but most of the cruise lines did/do have crèche facilities.

Welcome to the forum.

And P&O normally do a children's tea/dinner in the buffet early evening. It may give you another option, combined with the creche, to enjoy a relaxing dinner later.

I know all children are different in that some like to keep hold of Mom’s/Dads shirt tails but the kids/toddler groups are great confidence boosters for any child, not least because club staff are very experienced in what they do…that was our experience anyway.

All that being said, if it is just the two of you going then I can fully understand two being company during meal times.

Enjoy your cruise.

There us a group on Facebook for P and O Iona ,where is masses of information on travelling with small children. I do seem to remember reading about childrens menus in restaurants.
I think if you ask the same question you will get a good response.
